No disrespect intended but what the hell? lol What happened to raiding parties just showing up at someone's base during a patrol and raiding? Why does everything have to be pre-planned? Why doesn't anyone actually patrol forts anymore? And why the hell are there such absurd requirements for raids, like the 8v14 crap that everybody is doing all of a sudden? Like sheesh, I don't remember clans being so nitpicky.

No one lies patrolling their base as the bases are becoming less fun and more tryhard. Everything is pre-planned as strategies have to be built for harder bases sadly you can't just raid anymore. Most forts are boring and offer no side things to do aside from kill raiders so there's no incentive to patrol.

It's an unfortunate thing to happen to C&G since everything went tryhard like RCL and such.

I mean pre-planned as in scheduling raids ahead of time. scouting forts is smart but telling the enemy that you're coming?? what even

Oh that, Yeah I'm not sure who started that trend but a 10 minute warning is stupid.

patrolling became uncommon once offsite communication became more consistent and depended upon

My sword clans still patrol all day long, when we're not training/raiding, and we use discord. I still don't get it.

(for me) patrolling was only fun because i could sit and crack a conversation with someone now i can do that elsewhere

Nothing like it used to be that's for sure, but it's something we have to adapt to. 2012 was superior.

Because Clans have collectively decided to transform themselves into an esports like community instead of the unique niche they had. It absolutely wrecked the community and clans have been smaller, more inactive, and drawing in lower percentages of the playerbase ever since. Yet no one wants to admit that this is a thing and that our obsession with turning clans into the next overwatch or CSGO is a bad thing.

"patrolling became uncommon once offsite communication became more consistent and depended upon" No, ####### been pretty commonplace since the inception of clans. And there was a lot of patrolling around during ####### prominance in the clan world. The esports craze and the whole team limits on bases is what brought that about.

sky cant be compared to things such as discord and teamspeak when it comes to the sake of limiting patrolling due to conversations

I didn't patrol to have a conversation though Patrolling typically meant assigned positions and defending against random raiders until some other rallied clan eventually showed up unexpected for a raid

"your opinion is your opinion and same for myself" Eeehh it's not an opinion. This definitely falls more into the realm of fact. Opinion would be whether or not you prefer patrols over the way it is now. Most would probably say the old days were better but that's not really provable persay. Other chat sites were definitely commonplace among clans since the beginning and have had no effect on patrol turn outs. Just about every clan at the very LEAST had HRs in skpe conference calls as early as '10. On top of that you can track the decline of patrols to the post TGI-VAK war days, which popularized over regulated wars and esports like gameplay. Chat sites had nothing to do with the decline.

Well, it wasn't. We still talked and we had fun, but when there were no hostiles present. Or if they were contained.

i don't think there's a real "fact" to the way that patrolling on a lego children game died off compared to the general opinion of the many users who did such everyone has their different views but i don't deny the elitism aspect of clans pulled back the casual aspect of patrolling among other things however people like me who did it as a social event pulled back due to things such as offsite communication it all depends on how you look at it

"sky cant be compared to things such as discord and teamspeak when it comes to the sake of limiting patrolling due to conversations" Accept sky did no such thing. Sky was the main chatsite during the peak of clans when patrolling was excessively popular. Just about every clan had a sky ######### and just about every clan used sky to speak to teammates faster during raids and defenses and to get a hold of stragglers for raids and events, and even yes, just to chat. Yet still patrols were excessively popular. Trust me man I led a pretty sizable clan back in those days, as did many others here, personally I have first hand experience with how clans opperated and I can definitively tell you that sky in no way caused a decline in patrols.

"i don't think there's a real "fact" to the way that patrolling on a lego children game died off compared to the general opinion of the many users who did such" There are definitely facts there... It's still at it's core human interaction and is guided by factual events lmao. That's like saying because roblox is a lego game there is no hard fact behind it's coding or the business' revenues. Poor argument.
