Hello everybody,
Anyone may have seen our recent decline in membership. I urge all members concerned about this /not/ to be concerned, for the following reasons:
The ThraII rank is essentially a social slave rank; they are those who are not committed to any cause in Valkanren, and have not yet asked or shown any intention to rise higher. The most they can do is either show commitment and become promoted, or leave; most choose the latter, because the former would be a lie: most of them are not committed, or permanent, members of Valkanren, and they are the principal body of people who are leaving us.
Of course, we have all seen the amount of activity, camaraderie, and loyalty that is displayed without these members, and thus I implore members who are loyal and active to this cause promote their friends: people who will understand them and thus the group: into our community.
The ealdormen have convened and confirmed that we will WAIT for all unnecessary people to leave. And when Cyngvar is completed (which will be this April), our wait will stop. By then, we will have a lesser member count, yes. But by then, we will build up on what we lost (which was not necessary to begin with) and replace the inactive with active, loyal soldiers: the future of Valkanren. We are happy to let people who find no joy in rising our ranks leave. It is their duty as a group hopper.
On the contrary, an alarming number of people /have/ been showing commitment to our cause lately: MeZTech, omicronpax, Ibrahim111123, mukuchi, wolfbloodfangs, SirEngulasFendstrum, meel, irekjer, GameOverlmao, and Colby805, in particular. Due to this, we’ve made specifications for promotions a little bit harder:
* To become a Free man, you must PM any person over Captain;
* To become an Auxiliary, you must PM any person over Captain, showing grammar and mat urity in your message;
* To become a Watchman, you must show simple discipline, skill, and commitment;
* To become a Guardsman, you must show intermediate discipline, skill, and commitment;
* To become a Serjeant, you must show leadership qualities;
* To become a Dragoon, you must show leadership qualities;
* To become an Ambassador, you must be an allied leader or diplomat;
* To become a Captain, you must show high leadership qualities;
* To become a Commander, you must be chosen by the High King;
* To become a Thane, you must be chosen by the High King;
* To become an Ealdorman, you must be chosen by the High King;
* To become an Aetheling, you must be chosen by the High King.
NOTHING in this group is restricted. If you want to try and become an Ealdorman, go for it: show your loyalty. We recognise all of it.
