Timing, height.
Both sides will almost always take damage, but if you lunge first you will more likely get the kill.
And even .5 studs higher than your opponent can make a difference.

Sword clans used to be a fun go-to for people who wanted to get away from arrogant gun clans and now there's no go-to because you've managed to screw that community up too

Ping users and wing user are somewhat a challenge due to their reach, but just a simple bait can easily kill them.

they still are a go to, but you can't give one group credit for "screw[ing]" things up, it's a community thing. some people choose to give groups a bad name, some give others a good one.

Last I checked RB and SF were both notable, respected sword clans and then Disabled comes around and infects the entire sword clan community
Yeah, gun fighting is really similar, but there are actually people who are >evidentlyevidently< worse than others and forcetying doesn't exist
