Basic training is one of the most important concepts of the legion and its success with member count. A basic training is the first event a soldier will ever come to and is the first impression for them of what our legions are like. This will either keep them here or drive them away hard core. So it must not be boring and you cannot be too too hard on them. Here is our basic training training rubric you will be using no matter what, I will also explain each part of it. Any optio plus an host a basic training with the permission of his centurion+ and the decanus can with the permission of centurion+ as well. (Training Intro -Make sure everyone is correctly outfitted -Welcome all recruits/legion members to the training -Introduce your rank and the other officers there. -Teach terms/test terms Formation work -teach all formations to the recruits located in the trello -Test all formations and re-teach as needed Combat work -Instruct all members how to use the shield tech(Teach raise key and such) -Have veteran members demonstrate a good 1v1 with both men having at least 300 health -health rotation training. Explain to never engage when below 50 -Pair men up and have them 1v1 each other at 500 health and give tips as they fight (keep a close eye on the talented fighters) -2v2(regular health) -3v3(regular health) -4v4,5v5(if numbers permit) Verbal Indoc/Oath -Have them pledge pure loyalty to rome -Brainwash them in the glory of rome Awards -Correctly document all administrative work such as, -People who are qualified for Miles(correctly demonstrated basic skills and is contracted) -Document all points given correctly. -Make notes of excelled men.) (OATH AND INDOC WILL BE EXPLAINED IN A FURTHER SECTION) The formations of most units in this Rome are actually very simple, in your head you may be thinking why the hell is there only a few when in battle there are so many things we will have to do so that we can successfully win. The trick is that all raids are led by voice. No matter what. Later on in the course we will go over raid tactics but the point of formations is simply simple organization during events and trainings. Our formations consist of a few simple actions and a few full blown motions. ***FACES*** -Left face: simply turn body to the left -right face: right turn the body -center face: reset back to the original position or the Front in general -about face: turn around ***ACTIONS*** -Parati: take out weapons and shield (if you want just the swords out or just the shields out just say swords out or shields up) -Reconde: put away sword and shield ***FORMATIONS*** -on me: vertical line behind officer -on (name of person) make a vertical line behind the targeted person -Basic: horizontal line in front of officer facing him -basic on me: horizontal line on the right of the officer -wedge: a pyramid type formation. Mainly for looks. Recruitment is a simple but advanced process at the same time, who we recruit is the hardest part of this. Finding good troops these days is quite hard. So what you need to be looking for is someone that has at least mostly competent grammar and has a sense of respect to you already and is not doing any form of back talking. You will need to back ground check every single recruit by looking at his groups, they are not allowed to be in any other ancient genre groups. Watch out for alts. Most recruits will be from just being at Cyprus so watching the outsiders fight will help you decide good candidates. The really important thing is their activeness and willingness to work hard. So recruitment really is not fun. Quite frankly it sucks. With that being said here is how it's done, the Legion system is set up very nicely that helps us with this, the Tribunus A or if there are multiple it doesn't matter, they are in charge of multiple things. Recruitment being one of them. They are to guarantee to the Legate that the flow of recruits is good and steady or getting better. They will often be the first person the new recruit talks to because they are going to be hosting most of the recruitment patrols. That being said any officer role may do recruitment patrols or recruit in general. Every single patrol you do needs to go and look for potential recruits in the outsiders area. If you find some you will bring them to the Trib A or do this next step your self, provided they already passed your background test you need to get their discord info and send them the legion discord link and have them join the main group and the legion group. If you are not of rank to promote in the discord message the Trib A to promote them to Auxiliary in the discord. At this point in time they are not contracted soldiers, they now will need to proceed to a basic training when you want them to. They as auxiliaries are almost like slaves and can be used to get gear for people. But do not abuse this. Inform them the basic training will be announced on the discord . As an auxiliary they do not have a uniform for now. ( this is subject to change) hosting a formal recruitment is simple, you as an officer rally all troops possible with your jurisdiction ( if you are centurion or below you can only summon your cohort without upper officer permission ) and you simply just walk around looking for people. Being nice is a must to hook them in. The key to leadership truly is kindness. Every officer before even becoming one knows good and well it sucks to be brutally beaten and broken down every single event. Forced to do 100 200 even 500 jacks sometimes. That is how you lose your troops. Now the correct forms of punishment that will be covered more in detail at a later section is things like repetition or combat for an extremely extended period of time. But also understanding servant leadership is so important, servant leadership is putting yourself in the position of the soldier and never asking them to do something you would not get down and do your self. That means any punishment you give them better be constructive ones. Treat them like sons or brothers. Now there are times where you need to get them tougher or you need to be stern on them on what not to do or even simply indoctrinating them into our system. You should avoid pointless name calling unless they deserve it. Tribunes-Mike-
