Its such an overused blanket term. "THEY GOT A CLEANS VOCALIST? WHAT ARE THEY METALCORE? FRIKKIN SELLOUTS!!! THEY'VE BEEN SELLING OUT SINCE THEN "RISE OF THE ENEMY" RECORD!!!!!!!! IM SO MAD!1 IM GONNA BURN MY MERCH!" "what? They dont do rock and roll music? they do a poppier style? SELL OUTS!" its the only word we can use when we dont want something to change apparently.

... That's because you are around people who use it the wrong way. If a band produces, let's arbitrarily say, ey, just generic rock. Then they get bought by a label and start to produce pop or speed metal because that's what the label wants and will earn money, even though that's not their thing, they are selling out.

Their album Duality which came after Cinematics is more pop-rock and the strings take a back seat and its focused more on the melodies and writing of the instrumental. But a big portion of their fanbase got mad and called them sell outs. simply cause they switched sounds.

My definition of sellout is something who switches to another genre for the sake of being high in the charts or they want more money *COUGH COUGH MAROON 5 COUGH COUGH*
