Try and figure out if you have a standard GPU for your PC.
Turn around your PC and have a look at the back. If there is an area below or above the motherboard (it's the place with a LOT of ports) with a VGA port or a HDMI port (use google if you don't know what they look like!), that will be your GPU.
If you don't have a GPU and only have a VGA adapter (it will be a blue port on the back of your PC, use google to find out what it looks like) then I'm afraid I can't help you from thereon.
IF YOU DO HAVE A GPU, READ THESE STEPS:
Find your VGA cable (it'll be plugged into the adapter, again use google if you don't know what the cable looks like) and plug it into the VGA port on the back of your GPU. You have to loosen the "cylinders" on the back of the cable before you remove it, otherwise it'll probably break something.
Once removed, plug it into the GPU and tighten the "cylinders". If your monitor displays something, that means your GPU is working. If you get the error message saying your graphics drivers are too old again, let me know.
