Literally why are people comparing this to the Hall trade?
The Hall trade was bad because, even though #6 has been one of the Oilers' two best defensemen along with Russell, the Oilers could have gotten a LOT more than just one guy who was almost unknown outside of New Jersey, even though the Oilers desperately needed a defenseman who would actually bother to defend instead of playing as a 4th forward.
Meanwhile everybody with a brain knows that the Ebs trade is just about even and benefits both teams in different ways. Nobody can even be considered to have won or lost this trade with what they got and gave up. |
