Getting details of place from placeID

I'm trying to make a very fancy teleporter, and three very useful things for the teleporter to display would be the name, thumbnail, and playercount of the place. I've seen a teleporter that displays the name before. By the way, is there any way for places to send signals to each other, even if not belonging to the same user? Or do I have to carry across signals via teleporting players?
