Like I said. Your being general. Besides, what people like seem to be more-or-less based on area. Like how most south-easterners go for country or southern rock. And it's true.
Also, I suppose that lots of people DO like pop, even I do. But there's lots of more pop than just what's here today. Old pop sounded like this -
