If there are any Roblox staff reading this post, I suggest you think about this post and share it to your coworkers. I'm doing my best to voice my opinion for the majority of the Roblox older member community. Note, these paragraphs get progressively longer and longer the more this goes on.
Roblox, don't fix it if it's not broken. (Featuring The Forums Update)
I can think of many, many examples of times when you've completely changed a completely functioning feature with no issues despite massive outrage, but to keep this post short and to the point, I'll only use two or three examples. (Update: after finishing Example 1, I'll just stick with that as the sole example for this post. I will possibly write another example if you so wish.)
EXAMPLE 1: The Forums Update
(tl;dr: forums update is awful and roblox will do anything in their power to shut down all outcry against it while still putting the update in place)
In this example, I will be following YouTuber Epikrika's video to deconstruct the horrid message we all received in our News folder.
"We will be introducing new improvements to the Roblox forum." Rough start right off the bat. What about all of that was an improvement? What is there to be improved? As Epikrika said, this is /literally/ a direct downgrade from what we have now. What we have now is a large, diverse selection of subforums that can meet everyone's interests. What we have now is separate communities that strived to be different and unique from all of the other subforums.
"If you have posted content in any forum NOT listed below, please make a copy of it now." Essentially, Roblox is implying that all posts that are not in any of their "new" forums will be lost forever. Even if the old posts are still accessible if you have the link (which is only slightly better), that's still really bad.
Let's talk about the new forums that will spawn on the doomsdate.
Roblox News & Discussion, Clans & Guilds, Lets Make A Deal, Game Design, and Scripts.
Roblox Talk, All Things Roblox, and Off Topic are all being merged into the monstrosity that will become Roblox News & Discussion. Technically, OT won't even be included in this, since it's just being removed completely. Off Topic seems like a no-brainer to keep, since it has an /extremely/ active community (with over 41 MILLION posts). An Off Topic forum is completely necessary. Without an Off Topic forum, people will just post their off topic posts in different forums. This will spawn even more work for a moderator when it could have been completely avoided altogether.
Clans & Guilds and Lets Make A Deal are the only two forums left standing that are really useful for a specific thing. The rest are so vague and general that it's simply alienating the bunch of different communities to make one gigantic blob of drama. It's like they went out of their way to make as few subforums as possible despite so many being crucial.
The least crucial of the bunch that will get removed is the entire Entertainment category (which on its own had some descent subforums worth keeping around). The absolute /worst/ removals of the bunch, however, are such no-brainers that we legitimately cannot believe Roblox thought it's a good idea to remove them. Ever notice how there's no sections in the five new forums for basic things like suggestions or technical help? Well, that's because /they're getting removed too/. That's right. BASIC USER NEEDS, SUCH AS BEING ABLE TO SUGGEST THINGS OR GET TECHNICAL SUPPORT ARE COMPLETELY GONE. It really goes to show exactly how much Roblox actually cares about us as users.
This update shows a concern for nothing but the forums being "too confusing for new users". Nothing about this is streamlined, it's just a downgrade. To absolutely no one's surprise, outrage across all forums regarding this subject was /tremendous/. It's a protest with the size right up to The Price Floor and Body Color (which will be mentioned later) updates and Egg Hunt 2015. This is arguably much bigger than any of those protests, however, since this directly affects the forums. Once again, to nobody's surprise, the moderators went on an absolute frenzy during this time trying desperately to censor, delete the posts of, and warn or ban any users who were posting their negative thoughts during this, whether it was legitimately constructive or actually hostile. It didn't matter. In fact, a lot more constructive threads were deleted than actually hostile threads. The threads that were kept were ones that were actually happy about the update. If this post gets deleted or I get warned/banned for it, consider this point proved.
In conclusion to Example 1, the new forums update, despite so much outcry and outrage, will still be put in place and is absolutely horrid. Roblox does not listen to users when it comes to updates. This update has zero functional purpose, it does not benefit anyone (except for possibly the staff?), and will only make the forums more chaotic than ever.
tl;dr for this whole post: Roblox tries 'fixing' random features that do not need to be fixed nor updated whatsoever for the worse, despite largescale, forums-wide outcry. Roblox will do anything in their power to censor the people who hate the updates and leave the people supporting the updates completely intact.

The forums are filled with people who will defend every last Roblox update no matter what it was.
I bet if Roblox removed chat altogether, They would still support it because "You could get past the filter" or whatever. Let me be above consequences and mind your own business. |
