INTRODUCTION:
Thank you for choosing to serve in the state of Louisiana as a Law Enforcement official. Before you begin your training process to start your career, we need you to read and agree to the following Rules and Regulations. If these are not followed by, your POST Certification will be revoked and you will not be allowed to reenter the academy. Please take in all of the following as requirements that ALL trainees and trainers are to follow. Thank you for your time and we wish you the best of luck.

MINIMUM TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
- All trainees are to reach the minimum of hours and courses taken in order to be certified within Louisiana Peace Officers and Training Standards. They are as follows:
A. Certified in Firearms Training (Held in the Third Tier.)
B. Certified in Defensive Tactics (Held in the Third Tier.)
C. Certified in Louisiana Laws (Held in the First Tier.)

FAILURE TO MEET TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
-All officers that do not meet the stated training requirements will not be able to graduate or be certified within Louisiana Peace Officers and Training Standards and not be able to apply for any department of their request.

TRAINING COORDINATOR:
- Each department shall designate one High Rank as their training coordinator, each training coordinator will be in charge of POST instruction of a class, no matter what department each trainee will want to request into and hold trainings for their own department depending on their requests of additional training after POST.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS:
Q: When will I as a trainee be able to apply for a department of my choice?
A: You will be able to apply for a department of your choice when you complete all tiers of Louisiana Peace Officers and Training Standards. You will have to be ranked as certified before you begin applying for departments.
Q: How longs does it take for me to be certified within Louisiana Peace Officers and Training Standards?
A: It will take you about 1-2 weeks in order for you to be certified in Louisiana Peace Officers and Training. Please be aware that it might take shorter depending on when each tier training is being held.
Q: I want to become a Louisiana Peace Officers and Training Officers Standards and Training instructor. How do I become one?
A: It is just like applying for any other department. Go ahead and fill out the application. You will have to go through additional training but in order for you to fill out the application, once again, you must have been certified in Peace Officer Standards and Training. |
