If you go to the games tab on the website, you can see there is no more game genre selecting. There's only filtering default, popular, recommended, paid, etc.
Let me tell you why this was a good update.
Game genre is irrelevant on Roblox. Why? Because we're in the 22nd century. All games are similar in many ways, making game genres useless. Removing game genre makes it so every other games get a chance for the spotlight.
It was also hard to use. Say you had # Sci-Fi themed FPS, you could only select 1 genre. So it was confusing because you had SciFi and FPS as a theme as your game, but you could only choose 1. And choosing All was bad, because that meant your game composed of ALL the genres listed, which is bad.
Removing the genre tab also made the game page much more cleaner and organised. When you chose a specific genre, such as horror, games that aren't even horror showed up still. And that made a terrible user experience.
Use your brain nostalgic knucklehead freakazoids. We're not in 2006. Game genres is obsolete now. You can't be discriminating other games. Game genres deserved to be removed.
You people need to accept Roblox updates with open hands. This isn't your game to tell Roblox that it's bad. Every update Roblox comes out with even with backlash benefits everyone. |
