I got this crazy idea yesterday.
It's a bit like the other person's Roblox app idea, though I would like to go into a bit more detail. First, benefits for the Roblox staff:
1. This could grab many more users. If they were to put it on the shop for free, many, and I mean MANY, people would happily download it. There aren't many free things for the DSi.
2. Nintendo allowed Hatena, an independant company, create something for the DSi. Why is this a good thing? Hatena sells premium memberships, and I don't think Nintendo gets a cut of the profit. The Roblox staff MOST LIKELY won't have to share the Builders Club profit with them.
Some of you probably think `This'll never work. The DSi can't handle all the controls.` I was thinking something along the lines of this:
There can be a few ways the screen can be used:
1. The regular Roblox interface that the computer uses. On the bottom screen, players use the stylus as the mouse pointer as they would with a mouse on the computer. A mouse wheel type thing will be in a lower corner for zooming in/out. The top screen can show misc. things, such as players in-game (or leaderboard), health, maybe even a picture of the player.
2. Bottom screen is a keyboard so the player can chat or use keys on it that are needed for certain functions on models, such as ignition or firing. There will also be a laptop-like scroll pad for using the mouse pointer for the character in the world, which is shown on the top screen. The mouse wheel from screen type 1 is there, too.
I was thinking of a few button layouts, too:
The left shoulder button can be held down as a person uses the stylus to rotate the camera.
A is jump. Simple as that.
X or y can be programmed to be used as one key on the keyboard so the touch screen keyboard doesn't have to be used when something like the fire key is used repeatedly.
If I get another idea, I'll add to this post.
If the staff is reading this, please think about it. |

Can't believe I forgot: MODES!
First, there's there's the online mode, but I was thinking that your username can be linked to the DS so you can build your level offline and anywhere you go. You can also download other levels to play offline, and even use wireless to play with friends.
One more thing: movement.
You can use the d-pad to move. You may also choose your preference between the WASD or arrow key versions. They can be flipped over to the buttons for leftys. |

Replies to people:
Chandler00: There would have been an online option.
xDarkninjax12: What exactly am I stealing? I was suggesting that Roblox should work WITH Nintendo.
thobby120: Hmmm... Well, if so, they'll scrap the idea. |

DSi has wifi compatibility people... Has internet browser as well. |
|
|
It CAN be done...
There's a channel for the Wii and DSi called the HomeBrew Channel...
If people put that channel on their DSi, and then somebody made some sort of Roblox App for it, it could be done...
The only problem is programming the game so that it works with the DSi...
(There IS a version of Lua for making DSi games, but Roblox's Lua will work on the DSi if a Roblox game is made for it.) |

Roblox's Lua is meant for Roblox.
If Roblox can be put on to something other than a computer with Windows, then it's Lua can too. |

I think it sounds like a great idea with a lot of thought into it. But if it ever works..... thats a different story |

The idea is BRILLIANT, but the practical realities are difficult. It would be extremely hard to make this, even if nintendo accepts this to happen. My heart says yes but my head says no. Sorry about that. |

READ, Kitty. |

Well, to download the HomeBrew Channel and apps for it, you would need an SD card, so it would be able to use the SD card for RAM...And memory...and whatever else... |
|

It would be awesome to use ROBLOX on DSI but how are we gonna get Lua on teh DSI? If they got it on that would make it happen possibly |
