Your Graphics card is a device in your computer that Manages all visual aspects of today's modern games and some windows themes. Having a poor graphics card can lead to many problems; On roblox it can make you lag and crash. Continue reading to learn more about graphics cards and fix any problems you might have.
~How do I tell if I have Graphics problems?~
When you enter a game does the screen freeze or move slowly when you character is walking? Can you see bricks disappearing and appearing as you approach and walk away from them?
if you answered yes to either of these questions you may have graphics problems.
~Is My Graphics Card Good Enough?~
We are going to need to access info on your graphics card, the easiest way to do this is to download a program called "CPU-Z". If you boot up CPU-Z you can switch over to the Graphics Tab and see your card information. Your card will have 3-4 numbers somewhere in its name (EX: 2450 or 345). If you look at those numbers they give a great deal of information without having looked at the other information in the window.
*The first number will give you the generation of the card, meaning its model age a generation 2 was created before a generation 3. Note that just becuase your card is newer does not make it better
*The second number is a power level, This number in the set will basically give you an idea of how good this card is without looking at other specifications. The levels range from 1-9, 1 being a low level card (not very good) and a 9 being the best card on the market. If the second number on your card is or is below a 3 you might need a better card to play roblox.
*The last set of numbers help you identify what cards (in a generation) game out first. You have a 4570 and a 4550, which one is newer??. The higher the last set of numbers the newer the card.
*There should also be a prefix on the name of the card such as GT or GTS. This information can change the information you got from the second number listed above. you can have two cards one of them is a 3400GS and the other one is a 3400GT , whats the difference between them? well the GT has an advantage over the GS because of its Clock rates.
"Although ATI don’t really use suffix on their newer models, Nvidia still are. Here’s a quick reference, from slowest to fastest, when you compare two identical models otherwise: GS < GT < GTS < GTX" <--- HR
If you refer back to CPU-Z you will see a section called "Clocks" this is basically information about speed at which pixels are being processed. The number will be in Mega Hertz (MHz). If you core is processing at 500MHz you are capable of running up to 500,000 pixels at once. There is also a Clock rate for Shaders (Shaders deal with particle effects like smoke).
Refer back to CPU-Z on the right side you should see a Memory section, the variables should include Size, Type, and Bus width. Size is the total amount of Graphics information you can hold at any one second. Type is the Method used to hold data.
*Bus Size , I have no professional knowledge on what this if for, but from what I found on the internet I believe it is the rate at which bits of data get send to your monitor. if you have a 64 Bit bus you can Send 64 Bit Graphics info to the monitor. But like I said , I have no idea if thats what its really for.
*Type is the method that your VGA/GPU processes Stored bits of data in its memory, a GDDR3 will be more advanced than a GDDR2, as methods for processing data have improved since GDDR2 came out.
*Size is used for Higher Resolutions on computers if you are running 1600x1200 on your monitor you will need a larger memory. Size is also used for keeping windows that you have open in a convenient place for the VGA to access their Disply info.
Chances are that you have Decided if you need a new card or not by this point. If you need a new card skip to the next section and get your problem fixed. If you still aren't sure you should ask a local professional if you need a new card.
~How do I fix Graphics Problems?~
Remember that you card may not be the entire problem, if the other components of your computer may be holding it back from its maximum performance. Make sure you have decided that your VGA is not good enough before replacing it with a new one.
*Free Methods:*
1. I wrote a guide on how to fix up your Roblox settings to help low end cards on your system, follow this link and read from there http://www.roblox.com/Forum/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=22788926

*Cost-Effective Methods:*
1. You can buy a new card, consult the information in "~Is My Graphics Card Good Enough?~" to decide what card to buy. When you are buying the card you should have a professional install it. Also note that not every card works on every system, consult your system capabilities.

Ive been playing roblox for 2 years now. My parents said that I could throw away my old desktop and use there laptop. Well I accepted, but a few months ago I spilled a protein shake on the keyboard. Thankfully nothing terrible happened. The computer people said that if you pay a little more money we will clean the computer and ad windows 7, my parents agreed. At first Roblox said Graphics cant initialize now its saying
Unable to run Roblox.
Graphics failed to initialize.
This computer does not have correctly installed graphics drivers and is using the default Microsoft OpenGL implementation. Most graphics capabilities are disabled. To correct this problem, download and install the latest drivers for the graphics card
Help me! What should I do? |

That is a problem that occurs when your Drivers get damaged in some way
To solve this you will need to find out what type of card you have, then head over to the manufactures site and download the drivers on their site
If you use the program "CPU-Z" that i mentioned above it will give you the exact name of the card and you will be able to locate it pretty quickly. |

All you need to do is get a new graphics card. You can buy some at Best Buy, or even ebay or amazon. |

@PEACEGUY012, first off, this is a very old thread and you should have posted a problem in a new thread, not on an advice thraed.
Shame on you for bumping it.
Your computer may not be detecting your current graphics card, I recommend you just find your local geek an pay him lots of money to help you. *and by local geek I mean a company that IS NOT! best buy/geek squad/majorly known company.
Find one of those stand along private businesses, they actually know what their doing. |

If roblox is lagging with a new graphics card its something else then like RAM, Proccessor, data transfer rate. And trust me i know this stuff I run roblox off a 8mb ATI Rage Pro from the early 2000s. |

@supertixy, it can be new all it wants, that does not mean its a good card, as explained above in my guide. |

Hey, I don't know if you answered this, I skimmed threw this and couldn't find the answer to my question, wether I didn't read carefully enough or it isn't in there.
Whenever I try to play a game on Roblox, Any game, at all, or go to Roblox Stuido.
A pop-up always comes up saying that I have 0MB out of 16MB and I won't be able to see all the details.
On Friday, Roblox ran good, none of this pop up. Now it pops up. Takes longer to load games, and I can't maximize the screen to full.
Help please?
Thanks! |

I did not answer this, and it sounds like you GPU is going out or that its drivers are not working/installed properly, how old would you say your computer is? |
|
|
But I dont get why ROBLOX started lagging all of a sudden and then said 'ROBLOX requires a graphics card with 16MB- current= 0MB'! I mean I dont know what to do- does a graphics card start losing memory when playing ROBLOX or is it because of downloading things. If its because of downloading, I dont download! |

Think of it this way
You have an empty room you want to use for storing boxes. Each box you put in there takes up space, when you don't have anywhere to place your next box you must either clear out some of the boxes in there or find somewhere else to put the box you have. Computers, only have as much room as is installed.
Now think about roblox as a large group of people, all of them have a box that they want to put into that room. If the room is not big enough to put all the boxes inside, the people trying to put boxes inside of the room have to wait until there is space in the room before they can take the box in. this is pretty much what is happening with your GPU if you even have one.
PM me if you have any more questions, this is an old thread.

Sorry, Roblox does not allow advertising at all.. You have been reported..
The nice kid friendly site.
Report reason:
You can lead all the kids to a bad site and they get a virus that makes them unable to play Roblox.. Roblox`s Admin`s won`t like that!! |
|
|
I wish, I can post links to send you to Microsoft Update Center.. But I am afraid that I could be banned.. So all I can say is look up Microsoft .-. |

I've been playing since 2008. My advice : I would use a PC instead of a MAC, Ladtop, ETC. I would use firefox ( That's what I use ). I recommend Firefox because of it's display setting's it get's the most out of you're graphic's card. It seem's to be more clearer & safer. I would NOT use Google Chrome. It can really mess up you're computer's setting's. |
