Your connection to the internet is important to roblox. This precious resource is often ignored as a problem and is usually the culprit of most lag. Based on your internet provider you may or may not have enough speed to keep up with roblox.Continue reading to learn about connections to the internet. ~How do I tell if I have network problems?~ If every server you go to people appear to be standing still but jumping to a new place every so often? you are more than likely 'the problem' if you notice this everywhere you go. Google "internet speed test" and clicking on the second link. Get your results and compare the results below. 0 - 0.25 MB/s --- you are going to have occasional problems 0.25 - 0.5 MB/s -- you will have few problems 0.5+ MB/s -- you will never have problems Speed is however not the only problem you can encounter, Bandwidth is another specification you should consider looking at. Bandwidth, put in simple terms is like stretching a rubber band around your fingers, if you overstretch the band it breaks and your finger (internet) receives a snap then you feel the pain (of slowness). There is no need to worry if you are on a dedicated line, only public lines have to suffer from bandwidth shortages (satellite, wifi, wireless). Your bandwidth is set by your internet provider and can be changed for a nominal fee usually. You don't need to worry about bandwidth unless you have been downloading large (10MB+) files constantly. Don't confuse scripting lag with network lag. if a server appears to be slow for everyone its not because roblox is lagging. That is actually caused by graphics issues (when high numbers of bricks are aloud) and scripting lag (when someone really does not know how to script well or has a virus in their place) "Roblox Lags!!" while it is true roblox itself can be the source of the problem it is often not the case. Roblox only lags when there is a high number of people online , usually that is during the weekends when 5000+ people are on game servers. I'm going to stretch the point about public IP's vs dedicated lines. There is a huge difference between their reliability. Gamers need dedicated lines to keep up with their large data draw from the internet. If your not to big on gaming you should use a public network because they are cheaper for business applications. If you want to really enjoy roblox you need a dedicated line, see"cost effective methods" to get a dedicated line ~How do I fix network Problems?~ *Free Methods:* 1. The first thing you could do is make sure that other programs are not using the network connection. If you are downloading something obviously you are not going to be able to get the full extent of your network capabilities, close all programs using up your connection. 2. You can also use Wired connections. Although wireless allows you to roam anywhere within the connection range it is slower. Your modem likely has a Ethernet port that you could plug your computer into to get a stable connection. Ask a professional if you need help. 3. Your anti virus may have to do with your network speed as well, sometimes it will be checking all the data going in and out of your computer keeping you safe from a virus. Based on what Anti-virus you are using you may be getting slowed down by file checks. You should read through the help section of your anti-virus to speed it up. *Cost-Effective Methods:* 1. Your internet provider can give you a stronger connection in exchange for money. Be sure to consult your ISP about speeds and connection types 2. If your computer is on a public connection (Satellite and Wi-Fi) you can increase your speed by getting a Dedicated line. Dedicated lines serve only your computer, giving it a boost over public connections. Consult your internet provider about your connection type's

@Javeman2000, Well excuse me if i like to help people out mr. narcissist. Just because i write guides that help people does not make me a mod-wanna-be. I am smart when it comes to computers, i might not have a lot of experience in networking. I make 300+$ A WEEK fixing people problems, i bet you cant even fix your own computer. @commander You do know that roblox streams around 265kbs on an average game, which is .125Mbs. You should not talk down to people when you don't do any research in the line of helping people that have no clue what they are doing. When was the last time either of you did anything helpful for the community?, I'm not hurt by your comments in the least because i know i can help someone just a little to fix their roblox that I have done good in the world. Have a nice day you hypocritical trolls

i am a geek. I say you have no idea what you are talking about. i have a spead of 54 Mega Bytes/s. Also, a 10 MB file is not "Huge". Dwnload 100 of those files and then you will fill a gigabyte. 100 OF THEM! Good luck doing that. You also only have "Band-Width" on MOBILE devices. For instance, A black-berry has 10MB of data per month. When you go to a web-site, It DOWNLOADS the file to your computer. Then displays it in your browser. Say that web site was a 5MB file. I have used up 1/2 of my bandwith. This usilly doesn't occor on stationary devices, That don't work with ROBLOX. Band width is not a problem with lag at all. It is a problem with your wallet though. P.S. Don't act like you know everything. Don't expect to be a mod. I have done *exactly* this, Look under my name. Do you see "Moderator"? I don't. Also, don't flame me. I am helping you not waste your time waiting for somthing that will never happen. If you choose to ignore this, i will say that you said I *could* critisize you, and that yu don't scare me wit htypeing. Not to be mean, Honestly not, but I fear you will continue giving people incorrect information. Again, PLEASE don't take this as an insult, as I do not intend it to be. But I would know this, As I host my own website, on my own computer.

@commander , I'm going to school to for computer science degree. you can stop acting like you think I don't know anything because I have taken classes that you may never take. @Cat, A GB is not one thousand MB its actually 1024. This all has to do with the way your processor works. It is called binary and it doubles every time it runs through a semi conductor on your main board. and 1024 is the Also I didn't say that a single 10 MB file is going to damage your bandwidth, the word " consistently " was put onto that sentence to indicate that you are down loading a lot of 10 MB files. And I don't want to be a mod, I just want to help people who have problems. I appreciate your concern information that is correct and if you feel its wrong then post your own guide so you can inform people correctly, I do after all like to learn myself.

Sorry about the drop of sentence in the last post, I meant to day "and 1024 is the tenth number on the list." Ill away your educated response ~o~ arguing one.

@commander126, 1.You admit its advice :D, even if you cant see past the signpost ill take it as progress. 2. Although it is very self explanatory I feel the need to remind you I/we are writing to a bunch of 5-12 year olds who more than likely don't care about it till it is a problem. Which is why I have written this, so that when it becomes a problem I can quickly link someone to the topic and not have to rewrite the same information again and again on individual threads. 3. Like I said with cats, if you feel you can do better then WRITE YOUR OWN!

Files over 500 MB? Pfft. Files over 12 GB are the ones I download daily. Usually download within 12 hours too...
