A great book that describe's George Orwell's experiences during the Spanish revolution, where he fought in the P.O.U.M. (part if Marxist unification) militia against Franco. later he goes into how the P.O.U.M. was betrayed, and labeled a Trotskyist organization, and how ultimately the war was lost because of it. very witty and down to earth, and show's his mental change over the course of the war.

Read Animal Farm. It's better. It's by the same guy.

I've read animal farm. everyone who is out of elementary school should've read animal by now. however, I doubt you have read homage to Catalonia, so you really don't have the authority to say one is better than the other. personally, I don't think animal farm was that good. it was a light hearted satirical book to show a serious problem. it's a fine book, if it is over hyped. I prefer the other books by George Orwell, those which are more detailed (a hanging, the lion and the unicorn, homage to Catalonia, nineteen eighty-four, even small little things like why I write, and politics and the English language.)

I've gotten further into the book, and it's great. it seems every turn has something quotable, and has some moral lesson to it. the book becomes exciting and intense rather than the previous dreary and witty atmosphere during the anarchist street fighting.
