Advertising threads is a good way to get LOTS OF PEOPLE to see how great this idea of your is. Or, how dumb it is and then flame it constantly :P.

Advertising a thread would be a huge waste since nobody would even care. Besides, people can advertise spam.

uggmun, people can ALREADY adveritse spam as it is. Plus, if they advertise, think of it like this: they're wasting money!
