People have suggested that there should be dynamic lighting and glowing bricks, which is coming as soon as the dev's figure out how to make it buildable.
However this glow I'm suggesting is different. In Left 4 Dead, if you get too far from your team, they become highlighted so you can find them. This also works for items you may find in the game.
This is the glow I think we should have, a glow as a particle system, not as an object that can effect the surroundings. That way, it can highlight what you want people to see or not see, and you can create a light/glare effect without even lighting up a brick.
The limit is that it can't emit very far, like only 10 studs to prevent people blinding each other. Anybody like the idea so far? |

Basicly just create a semi-transparent non-collideing bubble around them only shown to local player?
I guess thats a good idea I support.. |
YES now you got it! Thats what I am trying to say! |

It can be scripted honestly but it's hard and laggy (Not the game laggy jsut he animation of the bubble trying to follow the player) |
that is dynamic lighting. |
-_- But how is it scriptable? It doesn't say in the wiki about manipulating the perimeters of a gui according to a 3D position, and Guis are boxes anyway. |
dynamic lighting is not scriptable. It is roblox's job to make that feature. |
You aren't reading what the post says, read it again bloody ninja. >_> |
Well someone made a radar guy that works ._.
Me likes. |
Its a highlight, it doesn't effect the surrondings by lighting things, all it does is makes a glow around a brick so it LOOKS like its lighted when its not. |

I ment that you can have a sphere brick visible only to the local player that is placed over all freindlies and enemies showing who they are (It's in my models =P)
But the animation lags when the person moves and it is extremely hard to script
Also there are ways to use that GUI think to follow a player.Might not be a GUI but still. Have you ever seen that NXT Pokèball that can capture players? See the smoke that comes out of it? It's possible already. Just extremely hard :3 |

Oh thats screengui's colbalt, they aren't very reliable, because they don't react to camera distance, and they are horrible at displaying pictures.
BTW I think I may need that model of yours cobalt, I need to know how to do that. :3 |

Seartch my models dude look how many pages I have and give me one good reason why I should do it =P
Don't worry it's reletivly close to the front.
it shoudl be 'Show freind/foes script' or somethign liek that.
Teehee good luck :D |

Bump. |
Hey thanks, lets bump this one. |
Dynamic lighting isn't possible yet stupid, I said it on the other thread |
This is an old thread, in case if you haven't noticed. And again, I said its not dynamic lighting, its an effect that is caused by a system. |
selection box with thr right script is sort of a glow thing |
*facepalm* Glows are dynamic lighting |
Yes it does sort of, but it doesn't work right. And besides it would be nice to have this so we don't have to use brick to achive the same effect. |
This doesn't emit light, it emits a glowing effect so it looks like it is glowing. This ISN'T LIGHT!!! Its an effect that is caused by a particle emiter that creates a highlighted look. |
