Scripts not ran in Player

I build a place, make a script that needs to be in the Player, the script wont run. I move the script to Workspace, script runs. Does this mean scripts cant be ran in anywhere but Workspace?

You cannot put scripts in the player area. They can only go in Workspace, or Starterpack (For like resets)

Then why scripts in GUI are ran?
