(this does take place in the middle ages)
There was once a clan of theives called strykers, unlike most theives these people would kidnap children and then force them to train, night and day.once they became novice rank, they had to wear straps allover their body....no skin showed,then they had to burn their own faces. then if you didnt think it was brutal enouph they welded a skull permently to the face, the skull would break in..eventually causing it to act like a real face.
Villagers feared this clan, some of them have witnessed their children being captured...
