Any kind of trolling that gets a reaction out of people is successful trolling. "This guy needs to troll better" counts as a reaction as well. So do sarcastic comments. The Troll only fails when they are completely ignored and/or get little or no reaction at all. The purpose of a Troll is to get a reaction out of people for their own amusement. If they succeed in doing just that, they are a successful Troll. There is no specific way to troll, just as long as they tick people off.
