Now, up to this point, roblox has been using experamental phisic engins to provide our update needs. Now i speak for everybody on roblox when we say, WE NEED A NEW ENGINE. And if you dont already realize from my title, i propose havok. Its profesional, sleak, stylish, and roblox DEFINATELY has enough money and publicity to pull it off. On roblox, some features are IMPOSIBLE to add due to the engine the mods use. And in the long run, havok will be VERY useful. For a start we could be able to get rid of the annoying glitches that ALWAYS SEEM TO BE THERE. plus, all the great games have it. i cant metion them for obvious reasons though. Plus, this may encourage people to buy BC too. So how 'bout it? Wanna make the mods get havok and have the BEST ENGINE IN THE WORLD, or do you wanna keep this one and have the same in-game fails as always? support or no support |

We realy need this, I mean, in ROBLOX, when a car hits a humanoid, the car stops. THAT DOESNT HAPPEN! The humanoind should at least move/go flying.
So, Support! :D |

Don't be succeptible to the Golden Hammer, my friend! Havok is common, but that doesn't mean it's good! |

@TectonInd2 ,Nearly EVERY game has roblox. Halo uses havok, assasins creed uses havok, its GREAT! And that isnt even what im suggesting. What i mean is that we need a better engine, I would assume that roblox would at lest spend a PENNY on the game engine. I mean OGRE cost nothing, i would of thought that they would do that much. |

Even Fallout 3 and New Vegas, even Elder Scrolls IV,Painkiller series...SHALL I CONTINUE? THEY ALL USE HAVOK,TECTONIND2! Why shouldn't ROBLOX? |

Havok isn't the best engine to use. Honestly, they probably can't even afford a license. Considering everything they use already is open-source/their own, why not use Bullet?
Also, keep in mind that integrating a part of the game that isn't already present in the core game engine is difficult. |

You do realise tha the mods are bots right? |

the hydro engine is more up-to-date, powerful and cheaper.
it has REALISTIC NON-LAGGY WATER AND LIGHTING! it can't get any better! |

@frozen
That's an engine. It can interface with Havok. |
|
EspithelJoin Date: 2009-10-09 Post Count: 20917 |
seth: havok and hydro are both phyisics and game engines. |
|
SethiXzonJoin Date: 2008-08-21 Post Count: 13779 |
I forgot the word 'game'. Anyway, Hydro isn't too good, both simulation-wise and integration-wise. Havok isn't a game engine. |

hydro is amazeing. and by hydro, i'm talking about the one that powers hydrophobia. |

SethiXzonJoin Date: 2008-08-21 Post Count: 13779 |
Are you kidding? It's ridiculously overhyped. The lighting is average, the water is simple and not at all impressive, and the game itself is rather shallow. |
|
EspithelJoin Date: 2009-10-09 Post Count: 20917 |
it is amzeing. seriously. you have to see it for yourself to belive, not some critic. |

SethiXzonJoin Date: 2008-08-21 Post Count: 13779 |
I've played it. It's terrible, even for a console.
I've even seen prerendered video. |

EspithelJoin Date: 2009-10-09 Post Count: 20917 |
well, it a powerful engine with an edge over it's competitors. just because you don't like it doesn't mean the majority does. majority beats minority. |

I prefer ROBLOX as it is. If ROBLOX gets realistic, it just ruins the fun of it. The less it is like reality, the better. That's the fun, jumping off of buildings and bouncing around for a while. That's the fun, watching huge nukes never possible. That's the fun, jumping twice the size of the ROBLOXian. Why would you want ROBLOX to get a realistic-like? |
|
skyarexJoin Date: 2010-03-21 Post Count: 12989 |
@r0bl0xrr , Its no about how realistic things can be, its just that the fact there are so many glitches thats impossible to fix with OGER. It isnt about how realistic the game is. |
