Say you are going on vacation, and you want everyone to know and you don't want to shout it. There should be a feature in the 'Account' section where you could have the following options:
'Away'
'Vacation'
'Asleep'
and others. When you select one, your account will be down and no one could access it but you, and when they come to your profile, all they see is the place with the character and on top of the character it says 'Vacation' or 'Away' or 'Asleep' in fancy text. This would be cool for people who don't want people viewing there profile when they are away, but you can choose if people want to view your profile while away or not. Thanks.
