Welcome to a thrilling edition of Somewhat Educated Talks With Pplz! Today we shall discuss a controversial topic: Group Leaders. DO they have a bad reputation or is this merely exaggerated?
Most members out there have voiced concerns about scamming and hacking leaders and a lot of players are feeling completely ignored. These sort of leaders are claimed to essentially ignore their members and dispose of them should they ask of assistance or any real leadership from their leader. How such a group would survive is unknown, which also raises the question again: Are these claims true or just exaggerated?
I personally took the time out of my busy day to help a member get their group up and running after them having formed it and realizing the enormity of what they had signed up for a week later. They were extremely grateful and it actually felt good to contribute. Unfortunately, most people I talk to seem apprehensive about me and leaders in general and seem unwilling to go to leaders for assistance of any form. It is almost as if we've programmed everyone into thinking leaders are ALL heartless and spiteful beings...
Please, discuss your view on this topic! The world truly does want to hear your answer, you just don't realize it yet!
If this is true, then how can we fix this? Should we go on a campaign for better leadership? Should we implement social reforms throughout the major offenders? |

All are welcome to discuss this... There is no such thing as a wrong opinion... unless it's wrong of course. :P |

Really, with all these coalitions poping up, we should use this new spreading unity to implement new ways of doing things. Obviously people such as Sonic can't cater to the individual needs of their members, but we should atleast establish places for members to go for help and to contact the leader. We should also try to make our members feel a little more special (not too special, no point in making them think they're gods if the only result from that will be them jumping off of buildings saying "I CAN FLY!"...), as we can't force them to stay, they simply choose to. If they begin to feel unwelcome or unhappy in any way, our slowly rising empires could crumble away to nothing in a matter of days. |

I think that all the clan leaders are just hella busy, that's why they don't respond to PMs. The ONLY clan leader I know that responds to PMs is Eddren. He's pretty epic. |

Well, it's one thing to be busy but... Really, if you think about, once a group reached a certain point it can become essentially self-substaining, or atleast to the point where it reqiures little attention from the leader. With that said, I would imagine a leader would have enough time in their days to atleast check their mail and read up on the issues of their group and think up some solutions...
I don't reply to all the messages I personally recieve (try to... don't always; Always love the ones meant to be a queation but set up like a statement and then the resulting spam of "DID YOU GET MAH MESSAGE!?" when you don't reply to the statement...) but I reply to most of them and if someone approaches me with something about my group, I atleast give them some room in my mind to be thought about... |

"It makes me sick not only when promos are their only drive, but when HRs and leaders give them out as bribes or just blindly award them for it.
Its pretty sad really." -Taken out of a comment from Pwnage2mx; Source: "Do you really want to be a Low Rank forever? I didn't think so! There's still a chance if you read this forum to be a high rank

Above: Could this also be apart of the issue? Is there perhaps corruption within ALL the leaders of Roblox? Is there no hope for us? Are we bad people and just don't all realize it yet? Will anyone ever decide whether the cake is a pie or not!? |

Nah... sold this comment to Trump...

I've often wondered what would happen once my group got to that point... I Think the answer is compartmentalization. Separate your men into five or so divisions, that way the unimportant messages are filtered out before they get to you. |

Bad leadership tends to be more or less because the said leader hasn't quite figured out how to get a chain of command, that and since most groups are really only Confederations (no matter what the title says, that's what they are.) where the only real power any leader has is the kick button, (not really a threat has certain people have proven in the past) they lack discpline. It's not entirely the leader's fault. The groups SHOULD set up a recognized and easily followed Chain of Command in order to best get the best things out of their memembers. The leader shouldn't be held resposnible for the whole group, rather break it down with in, have a certain rank in charge of ADMIN type things, (like promo requests, award requests, enforcement of the rules) Then have a rank in charge of training, and then have a somebody in charge of recruiting, and then have a second in command who is respected and well liked, and then have the leader. The ADMIN ranks in the group can pass certain info up the Chain to the XO, who if they think it's relevant, pass it up to the CO. Or something to that effect. |

Hmm... Agreed, of course the chain of command is really only as strong as the people in it, how active it is, and the abilities given to it by the leader.
Like say... The leader doesnt give the XO the ability to delete posts and remove/demote members... well, say there is a spammer, they can't do anything about it, members see it and freak out and then things go down hill from there until the CO can get on top of the issue... |

Loads of Leaders are pretty much inactive, thinking their 2/3/4 In commands will do anything to keep the clan big.
I think we should actually help the Leaders be active, but I don't have a suggestion to that. |
|
TexarJoin Date: 2008-12-16 Post Count: 2935 |
Agreed. |

JinxyJoin Date: 2007-08-04 Post Count: 18317 |
You raise a good point there Texar. But if the Leader cant trust his XO to use his powers wisely then he/she needs to find a new XO, one they can trust with that power. |
|
TexarJoin Date: 2008-12-16 Post Count: 2935 |
Such a person is quite frankly hard to find. Trustable people who are active and contribute = "I thought that was just a myth? No way THAT exists..." |
|
JinxyJoin Date: 2007-08-04 Post Count: 18317 |
D: Am I not trustworthy and active? |
