I think ROBLOX should allow people to make their own ROBLOX servers that they and their friends can join (sort of like private servers, but all ROBLOX has to do is release the server software to the public).
ROBLOX would still be able to update the server software automatically (however, I think they should make it a choice, so if you want to update your server you have to click "Update").
How people ran their own servers would be up to them. If they chose to run it from their home computer or rent out a server. Also, ROBLOX could provide rental servers (these one's would be "official" servers, as in, they'd be displayed on the site).
To connect to a custom server, ROBLOX would have to make a new client possibly (not too much of a change however, basically just add a "join server" option into the studio or something like that where people can enter a name or IP address). |

"Or Let roblox to use Hamachi or something like that."
That's what I was basically suggesting by running it off your personal computer. |

"wait if it is for friends only then make unpublic"
The point of owning a ROBLOX server is more to make a new ROBLOX community with your own rules and stuff, while still letting the normal ROBLOX stay the way it is. This way, if someone wanted to, they could make a ROBLOX server which appeals more to teens. What the server would do, is allow multiple places (you set the amount of max places and players per place in the properties) in it and that way, you could make your own website for your ROBLOX server and tell people how to connect and stuff. Then they log in and they get to view the places as a list (it wouldn't be the ROBLOX interface we see here, that would be whatever they're website layout is, but the actual server itself would be a text box basically, and you join a place you'd have to type the name or click a link. The reason I suggest that, is because 1; it's easier for ROBLOX to make it like that than make GUIs for everything, and 2; it allows for more customization of the server as you could make your own GUI.
As for people charging people to play on their servers and ROBLOX losing potential profit; all ROBLOX has to do is say that you're not allowed to do that in the terms and conditions, that way it becomes illegal and if someone does that, ROBLOX can sue. |

Oh, and another thing; ROBLOX should also let you choose which version of ROBLOX you're downloading (for the server); that way people can have the classic ROBLOX running on their server if they want.
ROBLOX wouldn't actually have to do all that much work for this (to my knowledge anyways). Basically just give it to the community and they'll do the rest of the work needed. |

This would also allow ROBLOX to be played at LAN parties without Internet access. |

Do you know why ROBLOX requires Internet? Because it has to connect to the server. Thus why I say this would allow LAN parties without Internet connection because the server would be running on the network.
Also, you can play ROBLOX offline, just not multiplayer. If you save your place to your computer you can build and play on there. As for the bricks, I just copy and paste them getting around that problem.
But as for downloading the server, it would include the required items (bricks and other stuff). |

Not exactly, but sorta. The difference is you'll actually be running the server from your own computer. |

Oh, alright then, but i still support. :3 |

Servers can be run off your computer I believe but it depends on the size. If anything ROBLOX might use the Microsoft server programs. |

Any size of server can be run from your computer; it's just you need to have enough CPU power along with RAM.
The better your computer the more people can join your server.
But you could also rent out a server from someone and use theirs and have them run the ROBLOX Server for you; that way more people can connect (this isn't a server ROBLOX owns, this is renting from a server company (you pay monthly)).
Or you can build a dedicated machine just for the server; if you're doing that you're gonna be choosing really good parts (the GPU doesn't have to be as good), and you're gonna need a cooling system which is good enough to run your machine 24/7.
(but if you're running it from a normal computer then the server wont be up 24/7 (it will only be up when you put it up) and only a few people will be able to connect depending on your machine) |
