"But seriously... Why use an Operating System that has an uber fast browser, but NO other capabilities, whatsoever? Sounds a bit stupid, in my point of view."
Actually, tell me ONE thing you can't do on the web. There aren't much, are there?
There are some things you can't do on the web, but not much. |

Well, if it works well in Wine, we could get it to run.
AND TO ALL THOSE WHO SAY YOU CAN'T INSTALL WINE ON CHROME OS, here is the reasoning behind why you're wrong:
1) It's based off of Ubuntu Linux 10.04 LTS
2) There's a terminal. So you can always use apt-get or aptitude to add the ability to install Debian and RPM packages.

ROBLOX should use HTML5.
It's perfectly cross platform and they can seriously get some attention from the press. |

This is how you back up a chromebook:
*pushes away*
You just backed up a chromebook.
*gasp*
Is that a bunny?
Dun dun dun
That ad was epic.
Anyways, ChromeOS/Chromium OS/Chromebooks aren't as useful as they are today as many people are still, at times, unconnected to the internet and pretty much the internet hasn't evolved yet to the stage where it's becoming more and more useful. I mean, it's very useful yes, but it's not to it's fullest capability, since you will need a normal environment such as windows to run full-fledged applications, not just 'web apps'. With cloud computing the next big thing, I would expect servers to be able to handle the rest of the computing for the applications in which the servers would send the data to the user - without using any of the PC's parts I guess. One example of this is cloud gaming, really. Servers would process the games, and would just stream the video to the displays. I think that, this, (and with Google Fiber [if you don't know what it is, look google fiber up]), would be very useful to a chromebook, and the next generation of computing...

ChromeOS is designed for everyday people in general terms "Ordinary" people. It isn't for or even meant for Professional Use. Also, on the other Linux Operating Systems. You would have to use WINE which barely works and won't work at all for playing other users games. |

Anyways, you can't boot into another OS thanks to system check, so you're basically stuck with a superfast browser. However, you could go the hackish way and use LogMeIn or a similar service to connect to another computer.
Of course that ruins the point of having a Chromebook but, meh. |

Just got a Google Chrome OS computer. My only gripe is that I can't play Runescape or Roblox on it. Otherwise this thing runs at lightspeed. |

Actually you are incorrect, they are currently working on porting to linux. It will happen soon, read the roblox wiki. It's around 95% finished. 2013 it was merely 9% there |

"We’re probably 97% of the way to a Linux port, now that we’ve all the work necessary to port ROBLOX to OSX – which, as you probably know, is based on the UNIX kernel. I think the problem that we would likely run into on Linux is poor video driver support. I’ve heard horror stories from other developers. However, as Linux becomes more popular, I expect this hurdle to disappear."
Yes, this is true, but more recently:
http://blog.roblox.com/2013/12/feedback-loop-bloxcast-edition/
"We could spend six months porting ROBLOX to Linux, or we could deliver other highly requested features. If we’re going to be porting ROBLOX to another platform, Android is definitely next in line. Consoles are a close second–maybe that would involve a Linux port, particularly if the Steam OS takes off. We’ll see."
Also, even more recently, during RDC they stated they were not making a linux distribution due to low popularity :) |

I use a VM instead of dual-booting because if I remove everything I don't need from the ISO before installing it and enable the VT-x (And then run it on only 1 core and hibernate it when I'm not using it) it's like w/e why not both? |
