Have you ever been reading through any of the Roblox forums, to find one strangely familiar thread? This odd sense of deja vu sparks your curiosity, so you click it. You don't believe what it is.
It's... someone's first post, made over a year ago.
This sort of problem is rampant not only on the Roblox forums, but on every forum... ever. But most of these forums found a way to prevent what some would call necro bumping, others would call gravedigging, everyone calls ANNOYING.
Good news,anyone! There's a solution!

The solution (AKA TL; DR): Automatic locking after 30 days of inactivity!

Generally, if an idea is supported by the community, it'd stay in the front page until something gets done about it, or interest is lost and it retires along with other ideas.
Then, the trolling starts.
In the rare case of an idea from S&I actually getting popular enough for the devs to upload it, a troll could find the idea, and then bump it up to the first page.
Then the OP gets all the heat.
And if the idea just fades off into the Sea of Old Threads, a troll could bump whatever they want, leading to a fiasco in the forum. (Yes, a fiasco. It has happened a lot.)
If my idea were to go into effect, trolling, flame wars; entire BANS could be prevented. If every thread were to go into automatic lock mode after thirty days, ideas could gain support for a moderate amount of time, and when support fades (as it always does), the post has only one month for another spark of inspiration (or trolling) to begin.
In the future, with this idea in place, the forums would be a less trollific, safer place to live in. Yay.

30 days is too short,make a longer duration then fine. There's no reason for it to be locked anyways if it's already inactive,and plus if it's a good idea,people would want to see if it becomes active again. |

If it's a good idea, wouldn't there be continuous bumps to discuss, debate, and bump it? And if it's inactive for a while, wouldn't it be annoying to have the front page cluttered with old news?
