Hey guys,
I do not really play Roblox much anymore, but I come on once in a while to read my inbox message, and see what updates Roblox has made.
Anyways, I've actually had this idea for a good while now, and I was thinking of how Roblox disallows music to be uploaded and used in games. The same goes with meshes, but I'm only talking about music in this post, sorry!
Okay, so apparently the problem with music being uploaded by players is that it would be hard to moderate.
It's a lot easier to moderate text than music, seeing as you can use programs to detect bad text, and with vocals, you need a human ear to be sure, really. That would take way too much effort with moderation.
So the main concern: Innapropriate lyrics or audio.
Well, why not let us upload MIDI sound files? If you do not know what a midi file is, look it up. It's about the same quality as those retro 90's N64 games "8-bit audio". The files take up very little space, which is great, plus they are PURELY instrumental. A midi file cannot have lyrics in it.
So, why not let us upload .midi sound files to use in our games? They won't take up much space, and you won't have to worry about lyric moderation. Custom audio would be a GREAT breakthrough for Roblox.
It's not just music, it's sound fx. You could add environmental sounds around your game, and if you're a decent scripter, you can make them trigger at the perfect moments to make your game even greater.

The biggest problem isn't lyrics, it's copyright. ROBLOX has been sued before, and I pretty sure they don't want it to happen again.

Songs in MIDI files are considered simulation of songs, and fall in a copyright loophole and are not protected. If a MIDI is already copyrighted, Roblox is not responsible for a player upload. If they were, Roblox would be sued for every copyrighted image uploaded, and every "Call of Duty" game.

But the problem is, what if someone uploaded small midi files whereas it would play a curse word? Like if someone presses a button a cuss would be heard. What would happen from there on?
