Roblox shouldn't advertise itself as a kids game.
Players under 13 years of age typically aren't capable of creating anything... Decent. Sure they can try and have fun in the process, but games which are more simple, like MC, are more suited for those players.
Roblox has an advanced physics engine, Lua coding, limitless possibilities and an infinite amount of potential.
Children are not capable of bringing out the potential of Roblox, since building in Roblox is more so for the advanced minds.
What I'm saying is, is that kids are not smart enough to be able to build games to the extent the potentials let them.
The Roblox company should target their audience on more advanced users. People that will be able to use the Studio tools, create plugins and advanced worlds, and do coding that an 11 year old wouldn't be able to do.
"But Roblox is for all ages"
Correct, but I've tried inviting some friends onto Roblox 2 years back, when I was 14. This is what they said as soon as they opened the site:"This looks like a little kids' game."
...Really. This happened numerous times.
Please try giving a comfortable first impression to players which are looking for more serious gameplay and building (Which Roblox has tons to offer) |

well,you're right here.
What 9-12 year old could script? I don't think that any of them can.. |

No. Here's the thing that surprises you: there are Kids who actually are smart enough to be able to bring out ROBLOX's full potential. Also, The rules were made for a kid-friendly environment, so Making ROBLOX not for kids wouldn't give these rules much of a purpose. |

What if kids rage about this? |

I'm not saying there should be an age limit -_-
All I said was that Roblox should give the impression that it's an advanced building game; because that's what it is. |

Typical. Anyone here that's under 13 didn't understand a word I said. |
|

They can build, not script, basic things easily like in MC where things look aweful. But basically it is for playing the games, not building. |
|
|
If you're saying all children under a certain age should be forbidden from playing ROBLOX, no support. Kids don't necessarily need to build. There's other activities to do- Join groups, RP, visit the forums, play other games, participate in contests, roam the catalog, etc.
If you're saying ROBLOX shouldn't be advertised as a kid's game, I'll support. Maybe if it were a bit more reasonable [At some levels] for older kids, then I'll support. But not too reasonable... Then kids would lose interest because, from there, they would no longer understand the game. |

I know a 9 year old that can script. (Rare right?) ANyway they should advertise for both age groups. |
|
|
@Aurarus,
I did. I'm only 12 and can script and build okay. |
|
|
I know a twelve year old who knows roughly ten scripting/coding languages.
I'm thirteen myself, and I'm just learning out the CFraming part.
Anyways,
To change the site to a "more mature" game, it would get rid of all the childish parts of it, making the website look more intimidating to the little kids' eyes. It would somewhat scare them to see a website that looks typically advanced in scripting and coding, which they know as "nerd stuff".
We would recruit older guys, but we'll lose the younger kids.

its too late, now roblox wouldn't even appeal to people who want to script. it looks disgusting, the ammount of creativity is limited to war tycoons and are -adjective- obbies
the only thing we has left is the forum |

but no roblox should just be for 13+ because to me, now its kind of weird for a teen to play roblox in 2011
i think that they should make the insert free models button harder to find |

It's not stereotypical to say all kids under 13 are unintelligent.
And of course there will always be exceptions.
But all I'm saying is that little kids have just pretty much flooded Roblox.
The few advanced builders which are still staying around since the early days are being drained out from the front page because of the mass amounts of people who don't know how to build getting to the front page through the use of false advertising.
I'm just saying if Roblox tried to appeal to all age groups, much like MC did, the communitty would be much more productive and interesting.
Seriously. I'm tired of seeing sponge-bob tycoons. |

I support.
However, saying that all kids under age of 13 are unintelligent is an insult. I am 12 and I am intelligent. |
|
|
I 99% support.
I think trying to appeal to all ages might work. Some kids might leave because of the change, but most of them would be under 10. |
