Kitty,a gray tabby she cat, was looking out of her window. She looked at her Housefolk, much as she liked them, she wanted to be free.
"Ok," she told herself, "next time they go out,I'm leaving!" Finally,after what seemed like moons, her Housefolk left. She left the house and traved for a quarter moon to a place that seemed cozy enough with a lot of prey.
"I got here at at Moonhigh,so I shall recruit cats to join me and call it Moonclan," Kitty said. She realized she couldn't keep her kittypet name, so she renamed herself Dawnstar. She went through her territory and saw a cat, so she decided to ask them to join her.

Dawnstar walked up to Darkfrost.
"I think I smelled a cat up farther in the forest... Could you check it out?" she asked. |

Dawnpaw decided to go alone. She walked up and sees a red cat.
"Are you lost little one?" |

Riverpaw looked up at the grey she cat. He shook his head in defeat. "No. They don't want me anymore." He said, lifting a paw and motioning behind him, in the direction of his clan's territory. |

Dawnpaw looked where he was pointing.
"Waterclan? Why wouldn't they want you? Oh well,just join us." |

Riverpaw covered up his left eye. "Because I see like this." He said, twitching his nose. He stood up and waited for the She-cat to lead him.. wherever her clan was. |

Dawnstar headed down the path with him.
"You know my father was blind, he made a great warrior..." |

"At least I've heard..." she continued. |

Riverpaw followed her as he listened to her talk. "Reedstar said that I wouldn't be able to help anyone, and that I'd just slow everyone down." He stated, hitting a pebble across the path with his paw. |

"Reedstar is not a very honorable cat. If something's wrong with you, he tosses you out like crowfood. I've only been here a moon and I already know that." |

Riverpaw pondered what she said as he examined the path. It didn't look terribly worn. He figured it was an old two-leg path. |

Dawnstar studied Riverpaw's face. Quickly thinking she hurt his feeling she said,
"Not that kind of wrong! I mean like if you are impaired in anything." |

Riverpaw looked up at her curiously. "I didn't really think you were insulting me." He said. He could smell other cats scents that he didn't recognize as Waterclan. He figured it was Moonclan scent. |

"Here we are," Dawnstar said. The camp was a medium camp with a nursery, Apprentice's den, Warrior's den, Leader's den, Elder's den, and a Medicine cat den. In the center was a rock used for meetings. The camp was surrounded by forest with a giant tree called the Sky Tree to the Northwest.
"Sadly, we don't have a medicine cat yet..." Dawnstar told Riverpaw.

Riverpaw looked around and smiled a little bit. "I'm gonna go make my nest!" He trotted off clumsily, sliding in to the apprentice's den with all four paws. |

Dawnstar went looking for Darkfrost. She talked to her/him and, decided to make him Riverpaw's mentor.
