So, this roleplay thread is a work in progress. I would appreciate it if no one would post just yet, as the rules and setting and whatnot are still being discussed.
So far, it has been decided that there will be a relatively broad view on species, including an enslaved species. Vampirism and lycanthropy are allowed as diseases but not as specific species (such as in the Underworld movie series). The setting is the world of Ravitam, as shown in the thread name above.
More will be posted later. No one should post yet, unless they are ideas from the people below...no offense to all others, including those that should be on here but I forgot to mention, due to it being late at night when I post this.
CrabbyMars, MarzyWarzy, sox86, catzrcute, Necronation, ToxicHearted
Thank you, all! |

These are a few of the species. Discussions for others are still open.
Humans. Self-explanatory.
Elves. These are the fair-skinned, tall Elves, similar to those in L0TR (not to be confused with Santa's Workers, which are not in here AT ALL).
Orcs. The Orcs are a green-gray-skinned, muscular species. They are not inherently evil, as in L0TR. (Can you tell that I am a fan of those books, yet?)
War-Forged. Humanoid creations of wood and metal. For more a more detailed description, ask Necro.
More are to come. Thank you. |

This thread looks promising. |

In the beginning of the world, the universe was young and in flux. Out of this time came the elder ones, those with no true form, the Shapeshifters. With the Shapeshifters were their allies, now known only as the Enslaved, even to themselves. They were the rulers of the land.
The Shapeshifters were separated into castes: those who could transform freely into any shape or form, and there were those who could only transform into certain beasts of the wild places, such as felines and fish. It was those of the lower forms, those who changed in a more restricted manner, that, looking to better themselves, took metal from the earth and wood from the forests, and from the hearts of beasts and dissidents, they took pure and evil souls. Combining these, they made the War-Forged, as to be gods and make life in their own images.
It worked.
This was their downfall.
The War-Forged rose against them. The men of wood and metal turned on their supposedly all-powerful makers. While the Shapeshifters turned their eyes inward, from outside came the Elves from distant, unknown lands, who slayed them. The war lasted for unknown decades, but after the bloodshed the Elves were victorious. They and the War-Forged left one another alone, not allies, but glad that the Shapeshifters were gone. The Enslaved became who they are now, slaves of the Elves.
Years later, ships descended upon different coasts of the continent, known as Ravitam. The eastern coast and plains penetrating inward belong to the proud Humans who settled there. To the south, in the deserts, lie the Orcs. In the north grow strong mountains where the War-Forged keep their domain on and below the earth. North of that is unexplored, perhaps lost forever to men, due to wild creatures and other terrors that none dare pass. The west continues to belong to the Elves, where they had first landed and struck against the Shapeshifters, where trees grow tall and dense. This is Ravitam.
(Okay, well, don't post anything yet. I hope that this background is pleasing to as many people as possible. Forgive any spelling and/or grammar errors. I will post later with a bit better description of the species, most likely. Again, please, do not start posting just yet. I thank you all. -Tywan) |

Species:
Humans. (No explanation needed, I would think.) They inhabit the eastern coast and plains of Ravitam.
Orcs. They are a humanoid species, usually muscular with green-gray skin. They inhabit the southern deserts of Ravitam.
Elves. They are renowned as the Fair People. (In other words, think L0TR, not Artemis Fowl or Santa's workers.) They inhabit the western forests of Ravitam.
War-Forged. They are automatons of wood and metal, but they have souls and free will. They inhabit the mountains in the north of Ravitam, bordering the unexplored lands.
There are various other creatures that inhabit the lands, such as naiads, dryads, morti, et cetera.
The Shapeshifters are few in number; they are nearly extinct. To find one would be a rare and deadly occassion...
(All of these species are open for use, except for the Shapeshifter. There are very few of them, as aforementioned, and so due to that, and their large power in shifting forms, they are limited to certain persons close to me and myself. I apologize to everyone. Again, do not post just yet. The thread shall be ready shortly.)

(I am terribly sorry. I forgot a race.)
Enslaved. They are mostly humanoid, but their hair is replaced by a series of small horns, and their skin color range consists of pale blue, pale red, pale green, and a pale Human/Elven flesh tone. Surprisingly, there is no class or caste discrimination based on it. The Enslaved were allied with the Shapeshifters, but they were not treated as equals. They did much of the dirtier and menial work, but many were soldiers and even officers. After the ancient war with the Shapeshifters, the Elves put their enemies, now known as the Enslaved, to work in mines. Those who already worked in mines were the majority of these. Over the long amount of time, in the darkness, their eyes gradually disappeared, having little use. In place of them, the Enslaved developed a form of echolocation. They continue to work as slaves, both as miners and a few above ground as servants.
(Also...)
In the very center of the regions; a small strip bordering the northern mountains, southern desert, eastern plains, and western forests; lies the area known as Vrede. This seemingly unimportant area was where the armies of the four nations would constantly war against one another, until the leaders declared peace. Now, it is a center of commerce and entertainment, for no true government of one species rules over it. |

(Admins list: sentinel666, CrabbyMars, catzrcute, Necronation, sox86, ToxicHearted, and MarzyWarzy. If someone else tries to say that he/she is an administrator, well...We all know what to do. *cough*ignore*cough*.)
(The thread should be nearly ready to begin. A character sheet will be developed, of course, and I shall consult with the others. After that, though, well...Fun stuff happens, to put simply.)

(If none object, then I will post the CS (character sheet, for those who do not know), and begin the thread within the next 72 hours. Good luck, everyone.) |

(The biography is mostly optional. It is merely so that we can know what you are currently doing, what you do.)
(OKAY! The RP has begun. Refrain from using * to denote actions, and instead merely tell the story without such related punctuation. However, use quotation marks for speech. I know that you should all know this, and I hope that I do not sound condescending, but I merely wish to be exact as possible. Past or present tense...Eh, I've seen both used before in the same thread; it probably happens often. It does not matter. The most common of rules apply: no godmodding, no "flaming", et cetera. Magic is allowed, but do not give it to all of your characters, if you will. Not everyone can use it.)
(And now...)
(BEGIN!)
(May the odds be ever in your favor.) |
|
|
(Are we permitted to be a Shapeshifter, or is there a quota?) |
|
|
(I'm not sure if there is going to be an exact number (at one time I was thinking seven) but for now they are in reserve. My apologies. Any number of Humans, Elves, Orcs, War-Forged, Enslaved, and various minorities are allowed.) |
|
|
(Okay, I'll select something else then. I was hoping to be a Shapeshifter for my character, but I think I have an idea of something else. But when you say they are in reserve, is it "first come first serve" or for administrators and friends? I'm just curious so as to not break any rules.) |
|
|
(It most surely is not "first come, first serve." I am not really sure what to do with them...I will allow wider use of them later, perhaps, but for now I am most likely limiting them to admins. My apologies, once more.) |
|

(Thank you for the clarification, and no apology necessary. I'll probably create my CS later.) |

Name: Vaticus
Gender: Male
RPage: 38
Race: Elf
Occupation: A story-teller and magician master
Physical Description: A tall and thin elf with the characteristic light red-maroon pupils and pale skin, Vaticus looks the part of a person infected with vampirism. His hair is long and charcoal, uncommon among elves. It is tied back in a ponytail with twine. His teeth aren't sharp, as he files it down and buys vialed blood because in a great deal of the villages he visits vampires are hunted down and killed. He has long, thin fingers.
Personality: Vaticus is calm and rarely shows his emotion. He has trouble with humor.
Bio: Born into a family with a long history of poverty, he learned magic from a friend of his during his teenage years. He also got vampirism from this friend after Vaticus fought and killed him because of some activities his friend was partaking in. (Namely, torturing people before feeding on them.) He contracted the disease through, he assumes, blood or saliva that could've been exchanged during the fight. His family disowned him after his infection became obvious after he refused to feed for a great deal of time and went insane, attacking a family friend. He stole a horse and began travelling. He hopes to one day either make vampires accepted or create a Guild powerful enough to demand negotiation power. In the meantime, he tells stories and teaches magic to those rich enough to learn.
(Is this acceptable? If not, could you please tell me what to fix?) |

(Thank you.)
I shake my head at the Orcish boy.
"No, like this."
I move my fingers forward and slant them upwards slightly, in a motion similar to that of a wave.
"Your power is mine. Water to wine."
The small crystal goblet's contents --water-- turns dark purple-red in a couple of seconds, starting at the bottom and then raising up like tendrils of smoke, until the water is completely gone, to be replaced by wine.
"Attempt to rhyme. It helps me, usually."
This isn't true. In fact, the hand motion isn't necessary. But it helps the show. And if I am to make off with a good deal of gold, then the show for his father must be great.
"Do exactly as I did. And remember what I told you."
He does the hand motion, and says the rhyme. This time, to my surprise, he does it.
"Very good."
He runs out of my tent to go show his father, and I sit down to wait. Within minutes, a messenger presents to me a few nuggets of gold. I only deal in gold because of my travelling. If I get a couple of coins in one country, in another it may be useless. But everyone likes gold, it seems.
(Does gold exist in this story?) |

Bio: Found upon a small island by the crew of the Blut Steig after they passed through the 'tear in the worlds', S'harra found 'him' in the hold during her first days on the ship and fixed him. Used to be an 'Overseer of Duties' as he calls it, back before the war with the elves.
Other: Has no enmity for the shapeshifters or the elves, having been one of the few not used for manual labour and also was never involved in the war.

Race: Human, Vampire.

Often considers every consequence he can imagine when making decisions. Is very protective of his crew, knowing each one personally. Is easily tempted into flirting or being arrogant, having often succeeded in both the fields of love and war.
Bio: (Only from when passing through the ‘rip’, he’s left most of his past behind him, and the past doesn’t have much effect on the RP anyway, though he’ll allude to it every now and then) Came through the rip upon his ship, the Blut Steig, and made for land. Encountered ‘Shrike’ and S’harra along the way and is now heading inland to satisfy his curiosity and also see if anything can be gained from working with the people of this land. Currently about to make land on the shores of the main continent, in the human owned territories.

(Apolgies for the extreme amount of spacing, I was in a rush and just copied it straight from Word without altering it.)
(Also, awesomeness, at some point in the future Anselm would be happy to make a sanctuary with your character, once he's done exploring.)
A ship emerges from the early morning fog, the rays of dawn bursting through its dark grey sails, reflecting off the varnished wood of the balustrades and prow, flying past the sides of the ship and racing it to the coming port. Various figures are milling around on deck; a burly man in a worn overcoat manning the helm and shouting orders; a slim female climbing the rigging in record timing, tail sweeping out behind her; a being of dark metal comes from above deck and surveys the sights before him; and upon the prow of the ship, holding onto and hanging off of a taut rope, stands a pale man in fine dress singing out to the shore and smiling.
As the sun begins to clear the horizon the boat docks, the man leaping from the prow, to be accompanied by the feline woman and the man of metal. As they walk away there is the rousing cry of "Shore Leave!!" followed by a series of whole-hearted cheers.
Anselm:
I look at the people around me as we walk into the town, "Humans, least I know where I stand with them," I glance at my new companions, "not sure about where they stand with you two though..." |
|
|
(Both Sox and Sent accepted, of course. Welcome.) |
|
|
Anselm:
After having toured the town I leave Shrike back at our dock in the port and S'harra and I take to the rooves, to get a better view of the town and map it out in our heads. After all, I was in a foreign land and it's my view that it is always best to know where to run if you can't take your time leaving.
After getting a good view of the district we drop into an alley and inspect the local market stalls, mingling effectively with the crowd, S'harra hiding her tail in her clothes and ears in a smal hood.
(perfect time for another character to meet us, I'll leave you all to do something if you want to meet Anselm and S'harra. |
