The White Suit -A Velocity- By Velocinyx Chapter one: The advent Velocinyx had just arrived at the shack. The shack was a smallish cabin in the woods that was apparently so old and unknown that no one bothered to remember its name or origin. It was all wood, an old two story house with frowning front steps and a southern-style front porch next to the door. The gray overcast sky hung gloomily far above it. This was not going to be normal day. For Velocinyx this was most likely not going to be a normal week. Velocinyx got out of his vehicle, a black 4WD truck issued by High Command, its company’s patron. He checked his white suit for any wrinkles; there was none, which was good. Velocinyx liked nice suits, and usually the people who wore them. High Command had once again sent him to middle of nowhere, where once there he’d have to collect something, find someone, or get something from someone; which always seems easy on the job description. The wind was starting up ominously, as he started up the pathway. The ground was still soggy from the recent rains. Luckily it wasn’t raining at the time. Velocinyx took his time, enjoying the weather. “Why is it never like this on other missions?” he thought. Another car drove next to his. A black corvette, High Command approved, it was as shiny and polished as it was fast. A man got out of the car. He had light skin, black hair, and another mostly white suit. His name was Agent Leon. He followed Velocinyx. Velocinyx’s suit happened to be all white too except the black tie which balanced the otherwise otherworldly and over-light appearance, his hair was blinding white, and so were his eyes. They were almost luminescent compared to the dull background of the forest around them. “’Bout time,” Leon said, scratching his head. “Well it is kinda in the middle of nowhere,” said Velocinyx. “So what do we need to get this time?” “A walnut.” “What?!” “I knew you weren’t paying attention during the briefing!” Velocinyx scolded, “Anyways, we’re after a note, something that might help in a search.” “Why didn’t they just send a normal person to do this?” “I dunno. We ~are~ on our what, third mission?” “Oh yeah.” They talked in front of the house for a while until they figured out they were still on a mission. “Okay back to work,” said Velocinyx, shifting to seriousness. They both got their lamps and started towards the house when Leon froze. “Did you see that?” he whispered. “What?” asked Velocinyx, now slowing his pace. “Something in the window, a face I think; there’s nothing in it now.” “You sure it isn’t just haunts from other missions?” “I told you not to mention that, Velo.” Leon said coldly. Velocinyx was silent again. Whaduya think? ^_^

Two minutes it had taken them to set down the lamps and start looking through the living room of the distressed house. “It could be anywhere” Velocinyx thought, looking every which way. Leon was turning over chairs and couches like they were traps. “Why couldn’t they have sent us to find something like, I dunno, a chair or something?” said Leon, looking carefully under a couch. “Why couldn’t they have sent us to just find the house?” joked Velocinyx. Just then loud thump came from somewhere in the house. Leon tensed up; nearly hitting the lamp he was by. They both took out something shiny from under their suits, the staple of High Command side arms; the Gilded, High Command issued, CurseLifter magnum pistol 2.0… with silencer. The golden-black guns shone like lethal fireflies in the dim light. Leon pointed upstairs and did some hand-signs. Velocinyx denied it and motioned towards the other rooms. “First floor first!” he said with signs. Leon’s eye twitched upward near the staircase. “Fine.” thought Velocinyx, starting up the stairs. Velocinyx signed, “Cover me.” and Leon stood back, holding his pistol readily. Velocinyx’s senses were keen, but only picked up silence. Dead silence. Velocinyx motioned to a room, apparently a bedroom. “The note would be in the nightstand right?” Velocinyx whispered. Leon nodded. Velocinyx walked over to the nightstand while Leon stayed back near the inside of the doorway, right near the wall. Velocinyx tried opening the nightstand but it was locked shut. He easily picked the small brass-looking lock on the nightstand’s wooden drawer. It opened with a wooden, grunting, swishing noise, and they heard footsteps. “There it is again.” said Leon, switching his clip to “civilian” rounds and setting it to dual-shot. “As I said before, cover me.” said Velocinyx, trying to stay focused. “Ok.” spoke Leon, tightly gripping the black handle of the gold-clad weapon. The footsteps got closer. “Think this is a Code Olive?” said Velocinyx, looking through the drawer and starting to get flashbacks. “I hope not. We all know what that’s like.” said Leon, trying to keep calm. “I found it.” said Velocinyx, holding up a note, its font a reddis-brown color. “Seriously?” said Leon, “again with the bloody junk?” “Yes.” Velocinyx and Leon had gotten used to finding rather disturbing things, in this case a blood-written note. The footsteps got silent. “If this is a code Olive you need to take off the silencer.” said Velocinyx, unscrewing the also gilded silence on his pistol. Velocinyx fired a magnum shot into the ceiling. Boom! There was some dust from the second floor coming down. “What was that for?” said Leon, angered at the uncalled-for shot. “It’s a fear shot. Civilians will run, police will stay and say something.” “What about…” “-They run as well, and if they’re not smart enough to, they’ll start making noi-“ Velocinyx was interrupted by a moaning, screeching noise. Leon waited by the doorway, prepared. There were loud footsteps, like in running. Velocinyx heard two shots from Leon’s CurseLifters. The thing fell. In that second of fear, Leon had remembered something, something from long ago, the Infection. Swarms and riots of diseased people were hunting, for them. When that happened, Leon had to learn the hard way what Velocinyx had learned, fear isn’t tolerated at this point. To stay alive you had to stay sharp, stay quick, and stay quiet. Leon was exactly this. Velocinyx was as well. And that's why they survived. “Code Olive,” Leon said bravely, tucking the pistol back in his white suit.
