As an ode to my favorite book series, and due to request from the fanclub, I've crafted my own Tale of Redwall. Hopefully, I do well with the plot twists.
Also, yes, you are required to read ALL, of this.
If you say "To long, didn't read.", then don't bother posting on here.

On an island known as Sampetra. A Warlord from far across the sea has established dominion over the large isle. Capturing several creatures along the way to work on the palace which began to crumble over the course of the Seasons. The Monitor Lizards, once a tribe under the hypnosis of the Pine Marten, Ublaz Madeyes, have now become slaves under this Warlord's rule. The Warlord, a tiger known as Thorn Blademaster, silences anybeast who would dare speak out against his rule. He has also declared that a search be made, for six rose colored pearls, known as the Tears Of All Oceans.
At the same time, a young Abbeymouse, by the name of Jaques, treasures the lovely pearl that his mother had given him before passing on to Dark Forest.
He has no idea what will befall Redwall Abbey due to his keeping of this particular object.
But when a vermin band arrives in Mossflower Country, and he begins seeing visions of Martin the Warrior, things begin to change for this young mouse.
For better, or for worse.

What Leodin says, goes.
Absolutley NO instant-hitting. I'll say yay or nay on if your attack hits someone.
Absolutley NO instant-killing. Whether it be NPC or Player. Ask if you can first.
No swearing. I don't care how much you want to. You do, you're out of the RP.
If you are going to join this thread. Please be sure to check it often.
Last, but of course, most important of them all. HAVE FUN.
There will be future rules, so keep an eye out.

Redwall is all Animals. There are no Humans, magic, technology, or anything modern. It's a Medieval Fantasy series of Animals.
Sounds dumb but it's great.
Here is how to speak, if you already don't no.
Paw - Word for Hand or Arm. I.E: Folded his paws and shook his head.
Footpaw - Word for Foot. I.E: He tapped his footpaw in irritation.
Tail - Need I explain it?
Wing - Word for Hand or Arm. I.E: He spread his wings in mock confusion.
Talon - Word for Foot. I.E: He raked his talon's across the wood in frustration.
Claw - Word for claw. I.E: The lizard pointed an accusing claw at them.
Somebeast - Word for Someone. I.E: "Somebeast! Anybeast! Help!"
Anybeast - Word for Anyone. I.E: Refer to above. ^
Moon - Word for a Month.
Season - Word for a Year.
Dibbun - The Babies of Redwall Abbey. Mischevious.
Youngbeast. - A youth. Not a child, but not an adult.
In Redwall, there isn't any "Hey guys.", or, "Dude, what's up?".
The speech is more of the Medieval type, just not with any thou, thy or the such.
Molespeech. The language of Moles. Moles talk in a rather curious manner.
Example:
"Oi' bez wonderin' what yes be cookin' up thar Marthen."
For those that didn't understand that, I said.
"I be wondering what you be cooking up there Martin.".
Slightly stupid, I know, but, it was the only thing I could think of as an example.
Harespeech. The language of Hares, is like that of an English gentleman.
Example:
"Steady on there, good chap. Right ho you little rascal, come here. Wot wot."
I hate the way Hares talk, with them saying "Wot" after every sentence and all, but, nevermind.
___________________________________________________________________________
Anything Medieval. Except for Siege Engines, those are not allowed on characters. I've only seen a Crossbow once in the Redwall series, so, keep those at a very low number.(REAL Crossbows, not small handheld ones.)
Buster Swords are not Medieval, so don't ask about them. Those originated from Final Fantasy 7, and I won't permit them in this thread.
Guns are a complete NO. If you post that your character has any sort of firearm, then your weapon, and possibly your character, will be declined.
Camo is no. I've said before, this is Medieval Fantasy, not Modern US.
Anything Modern is a complete no.
Armor is allowed. But nothing like Halo Marines or Iron Man suits.
Simply something like Half-Plate Mail or Full-Plate Mail.

___________________________________________________________________________
These are a plot NPCs.
Jaques: A young mouse who has one of the Tears of all oceans. Perhaps this is what leads to the siege on Redwall? He is friendly, and would rather stay away from violence. But he has the potential of becoming Abbey Warrior, and may one day fulfill that role.
Russano the Wise: The current ruler of Salamandastron. Mountain of Badger Lords. A Badger Lord who carries an unbreakable stick of red wood, and who seems to know all there is to know around Mossflower country. Although he loathes violence, he will quickly result to it if danger threatens.
Skipper of Otters: The Chieftan of the Otter Tribe. Headstrong and bold, his fighting abilities are that of one who has seen many battles.
Log-a-Log: The Chieftan of the Guosim. He is shrouded in mystery, as he was a Shrew who was never connected to the rest of his tribe. What dark secrets does his past hide?
Kayla Longfletch: A mysterious young Ottermaid from the holt of Rudderwake.
Thorn Blademaster: This Tiger is the new Emperor of Sampetra. His fierce fighting, and strange accent, seem to suggest that he comes from a completley different side of the vast sea. His obvious intentions are to claim the Six Tears of All Oceans, but the question is, why does HE, want them? He is an excellent strategist, and dangerously skilled Swordsbeast; this tyrant will not stop until he has the pearls. And he doesn't care how many he has to hurt, in order to get them.

Name: Kain. (Pronounced K-Eye-n)
Seasons: Unknown. Appears to be around twenty.
Animal Type: Wolf.
Type: Neutral
Appearance: Grey fur, with tinges of darker grey here and there. Wears a heavy black sleevless tunic. Wears a long matching scarf that covers most of his face, along with black pants, boots, and bracers. He has two scars near his left eye. His eyes are a piercing yellow, and his voice is deep.
Weapon: Sword of the Dead. A sword with a long iron blade, a stright double edged blade, a pommelhilt, and black leather covering both hilts. A long red cloth covers the hilt and blows freely in the wind. Although it appears to be a thin and fragile sword, despite it's age, it doesn't even have a chip in it.
Alliance: N/A
Home Area: Nowhere.
Bio: A Mercenary looking for someone worthy of his skills, Kain rarely speaks to those he encounters. He seems to always fight with honor, and sometimes stares at Redwall Abbey for hours. He follows the teachings of a far off land, and refuses to disrespect them. Those that actually listen to his voice, rather then his words, can hear the agony in it, and if anybeast actually gazes into his eyes hard enough, they can see a deep sorrow. Many wonder what his past was like. If someone holds that much pain in their heart.

The spring afternoon was slightly cold, something strange on the isle of Sampetra, as it was an island that was always warm. Dark storm clouds rolled over the horizon, and a slight drizzle began to fall. The palace, which had been a crumbling ruin, overcome with many seasons, was now the shelter of the Blademaster Horde; and the work of the Monitor Lizards. A ferret by the name of Cadmus shuffled over to the throne room.
Stopping outside of it, he took a deep breath and then knocked loudly.
There was no reply.
Slowly, he opened the throne room door.
And there he sat.
A large creature, bigger then any of the beasts in the horde. Even bigger then the nine creatures that stood by him, sat on the throne.
Thorn Blademaster was a creature to behold.
His face and paws were covered in scars from battles long seasons passed. More scars could be seen through his striped orange fur.
Although he wore a robe of purple silk, anybeast that looked at him could tell he was no soft ruler.
The tiger sat unmoving on the throne. His family, which consisted of his mate, and his eight "cubs", knew what the arrival of Cadmus was about.
They took leave of the throne room.
The room was silent for a few moments; Cadmus was always nervous when the emperor sat so still with closed eyes.
Cadmus gulped, and then gave his report.
"My emperor, there is a a storm on the horizon, I do believe it will slow down the building process."
The large and imposing tiger opened his eyes and stared at his commander.
When he spoke, the ferret did not like what he heard.
"Work will continue at it's normal pace."
Arguing was pointless, yet Cadmus knew something that would make the emperor stop construction.
"Sire, we have found one of them."
Thorn fixed the ferret with his green eyes. The look he was giving Cadmus told the ferret that his liege knew what he was after.
"Bring me the pearl, and I'll see to it that construction is stopped for the day."
The ferret pulled out a small box, but before he could open it, his emperor was upon him, striking him savagely with his strong paws, and berating his commander.
"Fool! You had the pearl since you entered, yet you never gave thought to giving it to me?"
Pleading or begging for forgiveness was futile. The ferret knew better.
After he had delivered a few more blows to his commander, Thorn turned and picked up the box which had fallen to the floor.
Turning away from the soldier that he had knocked to the floor, Thorn walked out to the balcony and stared out over the sea.
"Mark my words Cadmus. I will have the tears of all oceans in my posession...And your corsairs will travel to the west in order to find the last."
Narrowing his eyes against the increasing rain, the emperor muttered.
"Two more pearls remain. And they are located on the western shores....I'm sure of it."

(Fair warning: I never read Redwall, though I was VERY close to buying the book [or, if it's a series, then the *first* book].)
Name: Kollo C. W.
Seasons: Currently 19 seasons
Animal Type: Squirrel
Type: Good
Appearance: Kollo has short, slightly prickly light brown fur. He has some scratches here and there from brambles and thorns. He has various scars, as he had been attacked by bands of weasels twice, at the most. He is not a skilled fighter, but he desires to acquire this skill so he may defend himself if he were to be assaulted any further. His eyes are a bright shade of green, and his whiskers are broad. He wears a simple dark brown vest with darker pants woven from a thick fabric. His pant legs are slightly torn, but, despite that, they are in good shape, as well as his vest and shoes.
Weapon: A cutlass-like sword with a slightly flimsy blade, but very keen edges. The hilt is wrapped with a thick material that provides Kollo with a strong grip.
Alliance: N/A
Home Area: Previously Sampetra; he was escorted out of Sampetra by an owl, whom he has now befriended. [I WOULD use an evil animal, but I'm afraid those can't convert their loyalty, seeing as how they are labeled evil...] He now searches for a new refuge-- and a safer one at that.
Bio: Kollo had grown up under Thorn Blademaster's domain; he was brought up by hand by his two eccentric parents. He had never been too fond of his parents; they hadn't seemed right in the head. Kollo was not the adventurous type, but he did desire a secure and intact home, and that was not Sampetra; thus he encountered Quill Dyres, a clever owl, and pleaded for freedom. Quill was fairly well-known amongst Sampetra, so he hadn't raised many suspicions while escorting Kollo out. Quill then accompanied Kollo on his search for refuge, and later became his loyal companion and friend. Kollo also encountered a timid mole, who, too, has become Kollo's acquaintance. The mole's name is Libby. By-and-by, Kollo and his companions were informed of a refuge in a tree called Cricket's Oak. It is said to have been lost in an overgrown forest; Kollo and the others are now in search of it, gathering hints and clues of its location from anybeast trustworthy enough. But, alas, others are searching for the same tree. If Kollo does not reach it first, his dreams may shatter, and two season's worth of searching would go to waste.
(I hope the bio is okay. If possible, I'd like it to intertwine with the main plot. :L) |
|
|
(Actually, the mole's name will be Toris Trembrickel. ;D) |

(Accepted, for someone who hasn't read the books, it's a pretty good bio. Also, about the evil animals, they actually can turn their coat and go over to neutrality or the 'good' side. In a few of the books, 'evil' animals have become honest and decent creatures.
Mossflower - You can't really consider Gingivere evil, but, he's a wildcat so, whatever.
Outcast of Redwall - Veil was raised in Redwall Abbey, but due to doing a few things of questionable morality, he was banished and pretty much became a minor antagonist to the book. However, in the end, he redeemed himself.
The Bellmaker - The Boatswain Blaggut, turned on his captain and killed him, due to his captain killing a Redwaller. Stricken with grief, Blaggut decided that instead of living in Redwall, he would take up residence somewhere in Mossflower woods. He would, however, stop by from time to time, to see how the Abbeybeasts were doing.
Taggerung - Can you even consider Deyna to be evil? ...He was raised by vermin and all, but, he's a Redwaller born...Oh well, Deyna, or, Zann Juskarath Taggerung, as his full title among the Juskarath clan is known, was born to an otter family of Redwallers, however, his father was murdered and he was raised among the Juskarath as the prophecied "Taggerung". Tagg later disobeyed an order to kill a Juskarath member, and was branded as a false Taggerung, and sentenced to die. This lead him to search for answers as to who he truly was, and as to where he came from. Near the ending of the book, he finally finds his family and reunites with them at Redwall Abbey. (*Tears of Joy*).
I can rant a long time. lol, so anyway, it's a rather good char sheet, and seeing as how there are millions of large trees in Mossflower wood, then I'm pretty sure it could easily tie into the storyline.) |
