I get my acceptance letters on March 10th, and I still haven't decided which High School to attend.
Try to choose for me..
1. Strake Jesuit College Prep
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strake_Jesuit_College_Preparatory
2. St. Thomas High School
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Thomas_High_School_%28Houston,_Texas%29
3. Ridge Point High School

Feel free to ask me any questions on all three. |

Go to the one the most of your friends are going to. |
|
|
I don't even have to read them because is my answer:
1. Has to have a good soccer team? (You're like really good right?)
2. Has to have a good coach.
3. You'd get decent minutes
4. A lot of friends are going there.
Whichever seems like the best for you, maybe 3 out of 4 criteria, I would go with.

Most of them are split even between Strake, and STH.
(These two schools are rivals, btw.)

And here's the thing on the soccer team.
1. Strake is the only private school in Texas, besides Dallas Jesuit that's in UIL (public school sports league)
2. Only Juniors and Seniors can be on varsity
3. They're really good
4. St. Thomas has a really crappy team
5. You can make varsity as a freshman, and there's only three players in my position
6. They're in TAPPS, which is the private school sports league, which no one cares about, and is irrelevant. |
|
|
So you'll be entering 9th grade?
Depends on what you want. I would go to Strake and go through the program, work hard 'till you're a Junior and hopefully be good enough to get a spot. That way it'll be more satisfying beating St Thomas. |

Also.
I forgot to point out.
Strake gets twice as much homework as STH, and the academics are more...
let's say.. intense. |

Any reason?
@ Yonnd, that's the closest to me.
It's like 5 minutes away.
The only problem is though, it's a public school, and I'm not zoned there. |

I would go with Strake, since they have a better history and sports. |

Actually.
Both are about even in history.
St. Thomas is the second oldest campus in the city, and is in the exact heart of Houston. |
|
|
I would have gone with Strake.

@ Yonnd, there's an all girls school next door to Strake, where my sister goes btw.
And there are three all-girls schools within 15 minutes of St. Thomas. Btw, at St. Thomas you're allowed an off-campus lunch, as long as you get back before your next class. For Strake, you can go over to the girls' school. |
