I have a long list of 80's music on my thread. I am nearly obsessed with the 80's. I'm just sayin' you're not alone! I would have to say my two favorite songs on my list would be: 1. More Than a Feeling, by Boston 2. Take On Me, I don't remember the artist

The 80's were a mixed bag for me. Metal bands like Metallica, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Megadeth, Anthrax, and Slayer were awesome. Some rock bands like Whitesnake, Def Leppard, Motley Crue, Extreme, and others were good too. However, pop music in the 80's was mostly bad, mainly because of the synthesizers and drum machines that ruined almost everything.

I would have to disagree with you about the synthesizers. I liked quite a few of the songs with synthesizers. That was popular in the 80's! However, some songs went overboard with the synth. I really liked those bands though, because usually their albums were good even though one or two songs may have been bad. Although, that wasn't the case with Van Halen. They made Jump, which had a synth part. Some people didn't like it, but ironically it turned out to be their biggest hit. Go figure.

I don't agree on that last part, democracy. Most of the new music (I'm vouching mainly on the Rock and Roll ticket here, so if I am wrong on this point, then forgive me) tends to stick to the same topic, most often complaining about something, talking about a relationship, et cetera. Back in the 80s, it didn't seem so... generic. My favorite 80 songs, at the moment (once again, pardon me if I am wrong here): Runaway - Bon Jovi For Whom The Bell Tolls - Metallica

Rap has been here since 1979... So.. rap was here. The difference was it didnt hit the west which turned it into a fest of criminal and horrorcore rap.... RUN DMC and such things was rap. Do not insult rap if you do not even know were it came from.
