Hello all,
I've been thinking about free models recently. One thing that is apparent is that people feel it's fine to republish others work, without their consent.
Perhaps ROBLOX could implement licensing options.
When publishing a model as public domain, you'll be asked what license you want to be applied to that model. There will be two choices of license, which are below.
A) This model is not to be republished by others. They may use it in their places, and keep a copy in their inventory, but they will be able to publish the model as their own.
B) This model may be republished by others. They can use it in their place, keep a copy in their inventory and publish the model as their own.
You may make a model with license A a license B model but not vice-versa.
How would the protection work?
When the model is uploaded, ROBLOX will make it locked, with you listed in the values as the owner. As it is locked, this cannot be changed. When you try to publish a license A model, ROBLOX will check to see if you're listed as the owner.
I don't know how feasible this would be, but I welcome your comments and suggestions. |
