I don't have a good idea of what we would use as "companies", but if we can get some groups and/or "companies" to commit to being in the stock system, I think this would be fun.

No. Someone could buy 51% of the stock and suddenly they would be in control of everything.
Groups would be taken away from people. Games would switch owners. Shirts would be stolen right out of your hands...
