-INTRODUCTION
Basically, roblox needs better moderation. In fact, no. Roblox moderation is fine. It's the way they EXECUTE the moderation which is a HUGE problem. You see, if you don't know, let me explain:
Unlike many other games, ROBLOX works on a "three strikes and your out" system, where the users have a specific amount of chances to redeem themselves in a specific offence. For example, if you have spammed the forum ONCE, then that means you get a one day ban. However, if you spammed it ten times, then you get a two week ban or a permanent ban. If that doesn't work you get an IP ban and so on. Now, I am not the only one who thinks this is an incredibly BAD way of punishing the roblox users. This way of moderation simply DOES NOT WORK when you are working with millions of users and it's not rocket science why.This is also an added problem when ROBLOX does not specify rules clearly on the RULES section. They state what you can an can not do, but that is it. This is clearly a problem when you read the rule stating that "Swearing is against the rules". This is a very vague rule, mainly because words like "Hell" or "Damn" or even "Ass" can easily evade the floodcheck, which can lead users into believing that these words aren't counted as swears by roblox standards, but when they get banned for saying them, the user is incredibly confused. So let me go into detail with the floodcheck.
-FLOODCHECK NEEDS TO BE FIXED
Now, for the most part, the floodcheck is a fine addition. It allows users to post what is appropriate onto the forums...most of the time. As stated before, the Floodcheck does allow things through which are against the rules like those swears, which in all honesty, many people wouldn't even count them as swears. Hell was a swear back in the early 20th century, so was damn. Ass is the only word which some people may even find as a swear. So roblox NEEDS to specify this. Either through the rules, or through the floodcheck by not allowing those words to go through. But alas, this isn't the only problem with the floodcheck. The whole thing is good, don't get me wrong, but it makes no sense for it to behave as if you have been reported. What i mean by this is that, when you have been caught by the floodcheck, DESPITE that post not making it to the forums, you still get banned. This is by far the worst decision ever made by the moderators. By adding this, you are basically making the Floodcheck completely useless. First of all, after you do get caught by the floodcheck, even by something you didn't even MEAN, Roblox turns into a waiting game. You just end up waiting for that big "Account not approved" popup because if you do get caught by it, you KNOW you are getting a ban. This is bad because a ban should only be VALID if you are actually causing an effect on what you have said. If you say a swear on the forums, and it gets THROUGH the floodcheck, people can read it, including children. If you get caught though, NOBODY gets affected by it, yet you still get a ban. This not how it should work. The floodcheck should stop posts getting through, and that's it.
-WHY THE MODERATION IS BAD(FOR THOSE WHO DIDN'T GET IT)
Now, let's look at an example. An ACTUAL example which ACTUALLY happened with the "three strikes and your out" system roblox adopted. A boy named Timmy posted on the forums, after getting a few bans over the course of two years. He posts a thread however saying "So...." as the title and "Umm...yeah" as the body of the post. According to the rules, despite him doing it UNINTENTIONALLY, he spammed, so he got a seven day ban, because he did it before.
However, there is also a new girl, who got mad on the forums and posted "BAN ME YOU FN MODS! SUCK MY VAG__A!" on the forums and it stayed there for at least half an hour before the mods decided she needed a ONE DAY BAN. Do you see what is wrong with the moderation now? People on ROBLOX are being banned for unnecessary lengths of time whilst users who deserve a long ban only get one day. That girl should have got a two week ban at the very LEAST, but because the moderation works STRICTLY on a "three strikes and your out" system, she got one day. This not only promotes users to make alternate accounts and COMPLAIN about there ban (which is also an offence), this also causes users to leave the game entirely. This is NOT how moderation should be done.
-HOW IT SHOULD BE DONE
Roblox should have a system where the moderators check HOW SEVERE the offence is and act accordingly. They should completely SCRAP the "three strikes and your out" system and do it this way. Simple as that.
-TO CONCLUDE
Roblox should be a game with fair and clean moderation, however, the moderation is uneven and unfair. And odds are, you are going to get banned a fair amount of times if you go on the forums often, that is a GUARANTEE. In fact, the sad thing is, i think even ROBLOX knows this. That is why they give you 20+ chances to redeem yourself over the course of ALL the different rules. That alone should tell you that the moderation is flawed. That and also the fact that people make a TRUCKLOAD of alternate accounts in the events of a ban, and you LET THEM. You shouldn't NEED to make three alternate accounts in case you get banned, because it shouldn't be an often thing when that happens.
So Take what i have said into account. And PLEASE do something about this.
