Hello, I am Sam010100001, a mod for EBR. As it is my duty to review places, I often see things that make me cringe, and they are much more common than I would like them to be. Furthermore, many people don't know that these things don't make good EBR entries. Here is a list of 10 things that you SHOULDN'T put in your EBR entry.
1: Post-apocalyptic vignettes.
Although you may think that these take a lot of work, and turn out great, they don't make for good EBR entries. Due to the lack of ornate and intricate designs from the use of recycled or scrap material, it's almost impossible to determine if the builder is mediocre, or if they are a building genius.
2: Spherical terrain
Yes, I know my place, Edge of the World, uses this, but that was built almost two years ago, back when spheres weren't overused. Spheres nowadays don't take much skill at all. Below are some examples of places that made "good terrain" without spheres.

3: Remakes of other great buildings
When you remake someone else's great work, most likely you'll do a poor job of it, and even more likely it will show others that you don't have originality. Using someone else's work is not a good idea at all, and it has lead to 1 notable builder's lack of entry (not going to release names so as not to embarrass the user).
4: Incomplete entries that are FAR from done
If your entry is not complete, but it's pretty far into it (i.e. you only need to add a roof to your house) then don't send it in. Very often I get entries that are just 1 little thing, and I'm not even sure what they're supposed to be yet. Even though EBR is about quality over quantity, we still need something to look at.
5: Other people's work
Sometimes, although this isn't nearly as common as the other four, I receive something that is 100% free models, or something that someone else made. What's even worse, is sometimes it's a huge famous place, or another EBR member's entry that already made it in. Not only is it painstakingly obvious, it also reduces your chances for ever getting in. After you do something like that no one is going to want you in a building group.
-Other things.
1: EBR entries are based of of a voting system that ALL members participate in. Just because I like it and say I will vote for it, doesn't mean it will get in.
2: If you don't get a response back from the voting within a week, that means another vote was going on, and that I haven't had a chance to submit your entry for voting yet.

When people enter EBR, are they required to keep building like how they did for their entry? I can put alot of details into a building but I rather not build like that all the time.

Good guide on how not to get in, lol. I'm currently making my EBR entry, but I've not been able to build it because my laptop broke down, I can finally get round to building it again today or tomorrow =D!

I agree with all of these.
Spherical terrain is becoming much too overused now, and I really hate that.
And all projects should be done as well.
And you can't create a better version than the original. |
