At one point, everyone requests to join a group, but you never know what happens until you go to your groups... So, my suggestion is that when you get (Accepted) (Declined) by a group, you get a message. I hate when I get declined and just think they never bothered with my request. Also, the group owner gets a notification when you request to join a group. So they can know that someone wants to join.
