I believe you Mods still send the new players a PM set upon joining, Right? Well; you should do this: Inform players that off-site links do not work, and could possibly cause you to lose your account. Don't go all "common sense" on me. Half of these people have about as much common sense as a door knob. If you have a VALID ARGUMENT I am willing to listen, but if it's some completely stupid thing like above, I will not be held responsible for inter-slapping you. ~>Count Zero<~

Here's what I consider to be a valid argument: Most new players don't even read the messages, and if they do, do not follow them, and therefore, this would need some other way of enforcing itself onto users.

I thought that later on, and I came up with this. Upon joining; you have to watch a video featuring Builderman (As he is the owner) verbally telling the rules. How about that? ~>Count Zero<~

Torture. I'd rather watch GLaDOS try to eat that cake for two hours.

Fine. How about one of him, or some other mod/intern reading off the PM you get sent saying the basic rules? ~>Count Zero<~

No. I'd rather watch a noob be loopkilled for 2 hours.

BUT, it will force people to listen to the video. You only have to do it once. Support.

This will slow down alt account makers as well lol. They would have to go through this everytime they wanted an alt account.

No, people would mute their computers and go do something else. Fail.

Hey, Surge, this doesn't involve you because you already made an account and would not be affected by this. This is for NEW users, not every time you log in, got it? But, the video should be brief, no boring talking face, how about this: Every rule is shown as a bullet, then an example of it would appear on the video, and a generic red circle-with-slash appears at the end, to reenforce it's wrong, for the smaller users.

IK, but I'd hate having to watch an admin say the rules if I'm new. I'd ragequit before I even played :P

#73800904Saturday, July 28, 2012 4:56 AM GMT

Not everyone would do that.

I honestly think this is more productive then sending a letter that no one will read.

This should not be in-depth, that's why we have the "Help" tab. It should be around a minute long.

1 minute of torturing noobs with admin blah-blah about the rules? No.
jacob726
#73854846Saturday, July 28, 2012 7:43 PM GMT

It's not torturing. And if it saved them from doing something foolish, I'm certain they would appreciate it. Even more so if they was a spoiled child who bought BC on the day they joined. =P As for people deciding not to play; They wouldn't do that. Honestly. A short little video reading off the rules that they send you via PM, and then adding in a little "Offsite links do not work, and could potentially cause you to lose your account." or something at the end of it, with a "Http://" wrote and then stamping the anti-circle over it.(Red circle with a line though it. I like to call it the anti-circle. Because I can.) ~>"Religion has actually convinced people that there's an invisible man -- living in the sky -- who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do.. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever 'til the end of time! ..But He loves you." - Unknown<~

Shakespeare quote: "To be, or not to be; That is the question". Most people's common sense is obviously the latter of the first half. ~>"Religion has actually convinced people that there's an invisible man -- living in the sky -- who watches everything you do, every minute of every day.
