For those who don't know F5 bombing is holding down the F5 key to refresh the page rapidly, this adds to the views and makes the thread have a star next to it. These "attacks" are done at mass on forums from time to time to annoy people. I suggest that only 1 view will be counted from an IP address onto each thread, therefore making F5 bombing impossible and removing this annoyance. And now people can F5 to frame me. Yaaaay. All hail Lord Telamon!

But I like F5'ing D:! Besides, how is it annoying? I never got that. You don't actually *lose* anything out of it? In fact, you'd probably gain from it. What's the problem? ~Truth is an unpopular subject, because it is unquestionably correct.~

It's fun until someone F5's a whole forum, unless it's RT, after an F5 bomb it can be annoying to see new posts for a lot of people. All hail Lord Telamon!

An older post will be more viewed. New posts won't. All gold stars can annoy some people. To be truthful this suggestion isn't vital, I'm sure the majority of us can live without it, but it should be simple enough to implement hopefully with other forum updates. All hail Lord Telamon!

And another thing is that you remember the icon beside a thread and will then look at the threads with that icon when searching for it, if they're all a golden star this is more difficult. All hail Lord Telamon!

The problem I see with this is that no one will get a star any more based on the current threshold. Most of the people who get gold stars are by repeated views by the same person who revisits the thread for one reason or another. With this implemented, you'd effectively limit every thread on S&I to about 20 or 30 views. I'm not sure what threads in other forums would be limited to, however. Maybe one view per IP per time limit, but even still. And then after that would come the paradox of more posts than views. ~Truth is an unpopular subject, because it is unquestionably correct.~

Hmm, that is true I suppose. But it would also mean the threads which people are most interested in will get a golden star. If this WAS implemented (I doubt it will be ever) the threshold of each icon would likely change with it though. All hail Lord Telamon!

I'm not sure if you can change it, what with this being vBulletin and all. Certainly isn't as flexible a platform as PHPbb. In fact, I'm not sure if you can even do this with it being vBulletin. But if you *can* do it, then I guess. Lower it to maybe 75% or 50% it's current, and I guess it would be feasible. ~Truth is an unpopular subject, because it is unquestionably correct.~

Well I don't know much about this, but if this were ever done it would likely come with a wave of updates on the forums (Since ROBLOX seems to work that way and not just do small updates on something but instead revamp it all). All hail Lord Telamon!

I left out my point above, what I meant to include is that they would likely end up switching platforms then or work something out themselves. All hail Lord Telamon!

#74096085Tuesday, July 31, 2012 3:44 AM GMT

In this case, they'd have to. vBulletin isn't the best thing. It does what it needs to, but nothing more. Which is why so many boards use a PHPbb version. But for everything else, they really should do some more smaller updates. Small but frequent bug fixes are better than waiting two or three months before getting any, and then having them lumped in with an update that breaks ROBLOX for a user until the next update thereafter. ~Truth is an unpopular subject, because it is unquestionably correct.~

You seem to know what you're talking about more than I do with this. And I agree with you, that is better - but it doesn't seem like it's how ROBLOX does things sadly. All I mean is based on how they do things if they were ever to do this it would be included in a revamp of the forums. All hail Lord Telamon!
