Editing Your First Post In "Your" Thread When it comes to starting a forum thread, you may want to update your first post with new information, or adapted changes. However, it seems as though we cannot do that. As a result, this brings along a few annoying issues. The first post a person reads, is the first post that began the thread in the first place. And, many people don't have time to read every page of a thread, in order to find out for example "woops 2 + 2 is equal to 4, not 3" or "We will be re-writing the last few lines of the teleportation script". People read the first post first, and rely on it for the core of their information, in order to post something relevant to the thread. But, in many cases, I see that the thread creator has to constantly state that "Apples" are now "Oranges" or "The character with the name Bob, has had his name changed to George", mainly because that information could not be present in the first post (Which everybody reads first, because its the first thing seen, and not burried into 4 pages of responses to the thread). Editing Your Post You Made In "Response" To A Thread I find that occasionally, I'll have a spelling mistake present in a response, or some accidental miss information that I'd like to correct. But, my post has been made, and its unchangeable. So, I end up having to post another response, just to correct one simple error. For example: ------------------------------------- Hello, my name si sebane1, and I like computers. ------------------------------------- ------------------------------------- Woops, *is* ------------------------------------- I strongly beleive that every post should be able to add more value to the thread. Many times I read another post, just to find out that the person messed up on his/her prior post. Because they couldn't edit their previous post and fix whatever mistakes they made, I may have to throw out the bad information they corrected in their second post, which, in turn, waste's my time. As the post I read prior to the correct one, no longer adds value to the thread. All in all, we should be able to edit our own posts if we want to. And, if your worried about posts that were "Content Deleted" being re-edited by their owners, simply do this. Have it, so that if their post is edited by a Moderator, filter, or is "Content Deleted", they lose the priveleledge of editing that perticular post. Best Regards Sebane1

Just by reading the title; This is a power reserved for administrators and moderators.

As you can see, I misspelled "privilege" by accident. And, as a result, needed to post a response if I wanted to correct it.

@Evelio95 While this may currently be a feature reserved for moderators, and administrators. I don't see how it could be abused in the hands of a user. If I choose to delete my own post I chose to do so. And, if I deleted the thread to destroy proof that I violated the rules, you could simply have the deletion process work differently. Deleting your post could simply hide it from regular users, not Moderators or Administrators. If you change your post, you could possibly have a log that tracks your response edits within the last 3 days. So if I said something offensive, and edited the post, in order to destroy evidence that I broke a rule. Moderators could view a log of posts I've edited, showing their original content, and their new content. Which removes the worry for abuse, and work arounds to bans.

Which brings another point. It would be nice to update my first post of this thread. However, I must now present my new idea's as another post. With being able to edit our existing posts, we should also be able to "bold" text. This would work for things like titles, and important bits of information you'd like others to read.

@x1337Magex I never said "Give us the ability to change our titles as well" just our posts.

My apologies, I misread what you said. Perhaps there could be a rule put in place, and a title restriction. Allow the editing of your post, but revoke the ability to change its title. If your title says "Do you like cats" and your post says "Comment if you like eating dirt" there's a major contradiction there.

It should just be an abbreviation to stop spam. Thread content should be editable, not the title. Because people could just completely change the whole thread and have people hating, raging or supporting on it. Example: ------------------------------| LUL all u dum ppl R SMART| ------------------------------| | giv me mUNEY pls | | ------------------------------| Then people rage on it. Then, they change it to something like this: --------------------------------| Hey guys, I'm new to Roblox| --------------------------------| | I'm looking for a friend. | | ---------------------------------| Then he could bump it by saying that everyone is so rude. And start a fight and give people bad reputations. Or people would overwrite lets say, S&I threads, make it a completely different suggestion and then everyone's 'support' comments would be adding to a whole new thread and again, give people bad reputations. This should still be kept but if people were to rage or start a fight with someone on a thread then people rage back, he could easily change the content of what he said and act like hes being yelled at or accused of doing something wrong for no reason. Perhaps it could be fixed by having designated threads to be editable such as S&I where less spam and fights happen oppose to Roblox Talk.

@mal, It would most likely have a edit history to see recent changes on the thread, Thus not having that problem

Precisely what I had suggested earlier too. It just goes to show though. Although I made new suggestions that still rest on the first page. Nobody will read many other posts other than the one starting the thread. Not even I do. The 1st post should contain all updated information.

Support. But there is one tiny problem. *looks through brain memory files* Here it is: Troll posts "Post if you like cats" 300 people post Troll edits "Post if you HATE cats" Posters who posted disappointing But still, 99.99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% support.
