I have decided to make a Mars Base Tycoon.
HOLD IT!!!! NOT ANOTHER BORING TYCOON!!!
Actually, this is more than the ordinary tycoon. On Mars Base Tycoon, you can not only build your base, but go to the mining fields to find more crystals and resouces, save your base when you leave (it will be massive), and go to the battle arena for extra challenges.
In the game, you will be able to buy anything from walls to biodomes. Each one will help you increase your base, and some cannot be unlocked until you buy the proper building.
In the battle arena, you can fight not only other players, but alien forces as well, from the ground troops all the way up to the Alien Mothership.
In the mining fields, you will use any mining equipment you have unlocked and go around getting resources from just plain old dirt all the way up to rare and valuable crystals.

1. Is the battle arena one place? Wouldn't it be better to have aliens attack your base instead? What use does your base serve if not to protect you?

The battle arena is for battle only, but I like your idea. Maybe the aliens should attack the base like you said instead of just an arena...
The tycoons are all on one baseplate, with gaps in between each one.

Vehicle Descriptions
Light Mining Unit: Lightly armored, quick mining unit with basic cannons on sides, contains medium sized storage areas for resources
Heavy Mining Unit: Heavily armored, medium speed mining unit with turret on top and a small machine gun on sides, contains large storage areas for resources
MCL (Mobile Crystal Lab): Lightly armored, medium speed mobile lab unit for examining crystals and other resources, contains amazing lab inside, can have a drilling trailer
AT-MW (All Terrain Mining Walker): Robotic unit with two amrs and legs that is made for mining and walking over rougher terrain than most units can handle, has light armor and a fast walkspeed, but can be adapted for battle
Jetpack: Small with little armor and dual blasters, can raise a person up to 500 studs above ground
Alpha Fighter ("Eagle"): Basically a Mars adapted fighter jet with advanced weeaponry and scanning devices
Scout (ground): Lightly armored and fast, can scout out an area and make quick escapes, has dual blaster cannons
Scout (air): Lightly armored and extremely fast, basically a stealth jet
Bomber ("Dragon"): Heavily armored and can drop bombs over a large area very rapidly, also has a retractable machine gun on its bottom
Mobile Command Headquarters: A flying unit that is heavily armored and can manage squadrons and command its base from far away, has various blasters and advanced engines
Dropship: carries troops and/or small units to other locations without being found by enemy forces, has rocket launchers and small machine guns for defense
Battle Tank: A tank adapted to Mars with two arms for ripping up alien tech and walls, one main cannon with smaller weapons mounted on sides, heavily armored but slow
Advanced Battle Tank: The next step up from the original battle tank, with a faster engine and stronger weapons
VIP only vehicles (if/when I get BC):
Alpha Fighter Advanced: Faster, better weapons, and heavier armor than the original
Battle Walker: Four legged battle unit with heavy armor and lots of special equipment, can carry troops/small vehicles across Mars, has a small flying unit area on top

Sounds like you put quite a bit of thought into this. However, will you be able to make all this? It sounds great, but if its too much for you to handle and incorporate, then maybe you should make things more simple.
Will this tycoon game have a dropper like other tycoons, or will mining be the only way to earn money?
Will there be just one large mining field, or will every tycoon have their personal one?
Will you have AI controlled troops that you can recruit? Since you seemed to hint to that in the description of Mobile Command Headquarters and the Dropship. |

I will try to make as many of these as possible.
The mining field will be one big one.
You will be able to control troops and recruit them from your base.
Droppers are the easy way to make money on here. There will be plenty.

Will aliens be the only threat? Or can you fight other players and attack their bases? If there will be PVP, then you should implement an alliance GUI, so that people can team up, and the troops that you have won't attack the troops of your allies.
Having PVP would be neat, since you could try to take control of the mining fields, adding more strategy to the gameplay.
Will aliens have a base? Or will they just spawn occasionally at a random edge of the map and attack? |

Good idea. I will try to make something like that when it's done.
The aliens spawn randomly, mainly to reduce the lag a base would create.
WEAPONS
DX-19: basic laser pistol
PP-24: laser pistol with more damage per shot
LR-628: basic laser rifle
EX-01: experimental laser shotgun
SP-14: super accurate laser sniper
LM7: minigun with laser ammo
RPG-X1: advanced RPG
C-82: small automatic laser cannon
EX-02: experimental ray cannon
VIP
RPG-X4: semi auto RPG cannon
ADMIN
EAC-775: semi auto cannon with explosive/gas/flashbang rounds
G-1: fragmentary gas grenade
G-2: fragmentary flashbang
There will also be armor suits for everyone who saves enough money or has admin. |

What kind of alien units will there be?
Make sure to name your guns something easy to remember. Not just random letters and numbers. Or at least make each weapon code start with a different letter. You could also keep the numbering in an orderly fashion, rather than random. So like DX-01, PP-02, LR-03. |

Actually the majority of the letters are not random. However I chose random numbers. Perhaps a name instead of a code would be nice... |

Alien units:
Ground trooper: basic alien trooper
Stealth trooper: alien trooper with increased walkspeed and light armor
Heavy trooper: alien trooper with increased health and heavy armor
Thunder trooper: elite alien trooper with advanced robotic armor suit
Mystical trooper: rare alien trooper with teleportation abilities
Extractor: Armored mineral extraction unit with dual rotating cannons
Inferno: Armored mineral extraction unit with flamethrower and rocket launcher
Resource Transport: Armored mineral transportation unit with cannon
Raptor: Stealth jet with rockets and machine gun
Hornet: Attack jet with rockets, machine gun, and bombs
Mothership: Rare, but powerful main unit with heavy armor and various weapons
Cruiser: semi-rare and slow but powerful unit with various weapons
Cobra: Ground attack unit with claws and mid-strength armor
Lightning Scout: Fast ground unit with light weapons |

So aliens can also mine in the mining fields? I think a cool idea you can go with if that's the case is that the longer you let the aliens mine, the stronger the units that they send get. So it will be in the players' best interest to destroy the alien mineral extraction units as soon as they appear. |

Make sure to make enough space between each of the tycoons, otherwise it will get really laggy when all of those upgrades and troops are bought by different players located side-by-side. And since you will have a bunch of vehicles, distance won't be a problem while keeping the game lag-free as much ass possible. |
