I was thinking about a purely RP-based thread taking place in some medieval fantasy world and centering around a metropolis.
It would have guilds, clans, royal families, all kinds of shops'n'places'n'sectors, some bady gangs, large amount of races.. trying to think of some other things.
It'd be a simple non simple thread if that makes any sense. I'm planning on speed running it and trying to finish it by tonight..
Anyone interested? |

I'm interested, but I do not want it do be one of your normal RPs... |
|
|
Gen, what's wrong with his normal Rps? :L
I'll help too, just name it pal. :) |
|
|
@Misterio
Idea relating to the thread?
@Gen
One of my normal threads?
As in a huge word wall of text and complexity?
@Gavin
Aye okay, I'll send you link. |

Don't people just do this genre to escape from the whole "RP is cliche" trap? I mean, It's starting to become overused itself. Another RPG with twenty million different species like elves and trolls? I think you should do something more human based, Even if it does have magic.

They count as a full page...
... but ROBLOX is too stupid to skip a page. |

Tha, yes.
Link, please? |

@Banshee
Oh, I mean it won't be a RPG.
Just a good ol' classic RP thread.
And I just want to throw out quite a few races for variety.
@Gen
Ah. |

Some ideas. |

My idea is very very loosely based off of an RP I did in MC.
VERY VERY VERY LOOSELY |

Same difference. This idea had been used a thousand times. And making it long and overly complicated justifies it's use just about as much as making a RP under complicated justifies, I don't know, A Maximum Ride RP.
Sorry if I seem a bit bitter about it, but I'm really tired of this type of RP. When was the last time there was like, a Medieval zombies RP or a Medieval alien invasion RP? Or something outside the Medieval genre like an Egyptian or Greek RP where everyone wasn't a demigod?

Unoriginal doesn't make it bad, and original doesn't make it good.
Doesn't matter if the same basic concept has been used many times, most of those times the people making them having a sorry excuse for a roleplay, so they shouldn't even count, what matters is the ideas within the concept. |
|
|
@banshee
But it's not going to be a war thread.
It's not going to be a thread about a special group of people.
It's not going to have all the basic fantasy things.
It's basically going to take place in a massive city where you simply live your life.. may sound kind of bland but I'm planning to carve something great out of it. |

Ideas and concepts are the same. These RPs often have near identical plots, And it's no fun playing what feels like the same RP over and over. Unoriginal means it's been done. But in the case of RP, When that is said it usually means it's been done too much. And in this genre, They often have a wonderful roleplay, Just if it had any other plot. The writing style is fine, The races are fine too, If a bit cliche; But overall they all get boring after the thousandth time.

Erm, Banshee, but if they are keen on the idea... then it's obviously not boring to them. ._. |
|

What I'm trying to say that a fantasy thread hasn't been done in this form along with a mass amount of uniqueness. |
|
|
And, I think the genre is used so often because people are familiar with it. After the first few medieval RPs, people started to note what they did in that RP, and made medieval RPs themselves, but with a few alterations so they aren't flat-out copying the first people to begin the RP genre.
I wouldn't dare make an Egyptian RP because I don't know anything about that genre. I wouldn't know what to do, what to say... Now, if someone were to make one themselves, I would have a better idea of what to do. Of course, SOMEONE would have to start that genre in order for it to become popular.
I'm just not going to be that person. .-. Instead, I'll introduce the stitchpunk genre to RP since I already know what to do. <3 |

Bump.
Just got introduction done and I could use some help on the sectors'n'places'n'races'n'such. |
|
|
I'll help. I have my own way of making races, cities, kingdoms, and such. |

That would be fun...
Just living your life in a fantasy city...There would be no war or fighting really involved in it, unless you were talking politics about wars. This could be fun. And it could be complex all the same, there'd be less war and fighting with more room to detail the setting and make the city interesting.
Banshee, I don't really think it's unoriginal. Especially if you're just LIVING YOUR LIFE in a fantasy world. And if people really do regard that as a used genre, we could still make the role play fun and appealing.
Anyways, maybe we should design the city (map it out if you have to), then we detail it by explaining the current resources, economy, etc, as well as going into the city's history. We can also add some politics and news of what is going on outside of the city to give citizens something to talk about. Meh... |

I've made some awesome creatures. Llama really helped with the names though. |
