... Posted on for six months. That's the official definition of a "necrobump" and seeing that necrobumping was, and probably still is against the rules of the forum. Common sense. :D

I don't like this idea.Take the following as an example. Someone has a really great idea, and posts it on this forum (S&I). They are inactive for 6 months, due to school or something else. They come back to roblox, and remember that they had a really great idea, but can't quite remember what it was. If it's been deleted, they can't make a repost, because they can't quite remember what it was. If it's not been deleted, they can look at their past 25 and see what it is, and bump it or make a repost. This idea probably wouldn't sit well with people.

Don't delete them, there are some valuable old threads. Just lock them so people can't necrobump.

No, some people want to look back at old posts for, an example, their clan.

Bovine: Copy and paste. If you are gonna get banned for bumping it, Why keep it? Surge: Copy and paste or bump or update it. Things can change in six months. Evidence: Same. Copy and paste or bump or update it. Things change. Think of the potential savings.

@frozen Think of the potential loses in resources deleting like 50000 threads a day.

@frozen I think you missed my point. If it got deleted, they couldn't refer back to it to make a repost.

Drae- And those resources are? Those "resources" can be copied. Reused. You will not lose "resources," because time both changes, causing those "resources" to be progressively inert. This means you have to update those resources, thus probably also making them better in the process. Win-win. Bovine- My responce is the same. Copy and paste. If they cannot remember the idea, how will they refer back to it? Guest- It saves money to delete them, Opposed to locking them. Also, the last post is what matters. A 2006 thread will still be around if it has been posted on since the last 6 months. And bump.

Instead of it being deleted from 6 months of inactivity, the threads should be locked. I see no problem to this and if you're inactive for more six months what exactly are you doing that's keeping you off the computer? I get loads of homework and I still manage to get atleast seven hours of computer time.

No thread deleting. I would rather have it locked. Y'know, in case you want to look back on those old threads. I still feel a little sad that a bunch of old 06 posts have disappeared. :(

Yay, no I'm on this actually decent keyboard I can now write paragraph after paragraph. Yay. Anyway, the reason why I am absolutely for thread deletion over locking is for another variety of reasons: First of all, all your reason against the measure are fixable with a single, simple mechanic: Copying and pasteing. Nostalgia is nice, I suppose, and so is the abillity to keep one thread the same, but everything changes, and thus this can stop bans, idiocy, terrible clan rules, and money-saving. We've seen that former, but what about the other three? Idiocy. Taking S&I as my example: if someone is being nostalgic, they may stumble upon a TS thread from 2008. If they suggest that in 2012, without seeing it, then wholla. Locked or otherwise. This applies to a variety of ideas. It's not just S&I that is often occasionally prone to this suffering: I've seen RT necro-stuff, LMaD necro-trades, Necro-scripts, and more. And none of that bumped. If it's deleted, the necro-thought will never happen. And want to hear about what it's like pre? Copy. And. Paste. Terrible clan rules, and more often other ideas. After six months of a locked post, they're gone. So you have to re-write them again. Bad? I disagree. Unless you're even more of a copy 'n' paste fan than me, you will have to re-write the entire thing. Annoying? Probably. But... what if you were an idiot back then? Someone is free to bump that and irritate all your more cultured friends. Assuming this reference, you now would have better skills in english and grammar, maybe. As such, you would be able to make better rules. make it more thought out, because you've matured slightly. And don't want to re-write it? Copy. And. Paste. :3. And finally, the big one: Money. Putting this simply: The forums cost money to keep up. Because this is part of an internet company. Internet companies need money. I don't know why; ask telamon. Now, it makes sense that bigger sites need more money to keep up; 2 grams of gold is worth more than 1 gram of gold. OVA 90000 threads cost more than OVA 9000 threads. So, it's quite simple; delete your threads when they're cold. It stops a rule being broke, is easily bypassable, is less irritating, and saves money.

"If they cannot remember the idea, how will they refer back to it?" By looking at the threads they are tracking. If it gets deleted, they can't refer back to it.

Just lock it. No necrobumping and, if you need to make a repost with updates, it will be possible. No complaints from anyone. If you have an objection, speak now or forever hold your peace. - Life is unfair. But you don't have to take part in making it unfair -
