After an eloquent appeal to the Roblox powers that be (guess what, they ignored it completely!) I decided to take matters into my own hands and create a utility available for download on Sourceforge to solve this.
I have created a utility which will open a Roblox model or Zone file (rbxm or rbxl) and strip viruses directly from the file itself. Works on viruses hidden in Meshes as well as game.Lighting, no virus can hide from this utility as it opens the raw XML file and does it's work on that. The original file is not modified when it's done it will tell you how many it found and prompt you to save it to a new file. Built out of frustration with the state of the free models. I just created and posted this on Sourceforge so it will be a couple days before it gets approved. My little contribution towards saving the world :D
Roblox staff feel free to use it and/or modify the source code to clean the repository of models on your servers. I did the work for you :P

Good plan. I look forward to it.
You'll likely need a signature repository that (authorized) people can contribute to once the variants begin.
Another tact that I'm considering is starting an off-site library of clean, inspected scripts & models.
And if there already IS such a resource, I'd certainly like to know about it...

I wonder how people upload into Lua catalogy (A hidden catalog page in catalog) I thought only admins can upload it, and someone told me the url of the hidden lua catalog, I wonder how they'd got in, I had broswed it for a few sneak peak, there's a Lua named: Obifused Virus (Not sure did I typed the name right) but it isn't uploaded by admins, it is upload by a normal player, how could this happen? |

The anti-virus scripts only find SCRIPTS that are infected. They won't do jack against an infected mesh or something infecting the game.Lighting. Trust me this is the only sure way to get them all. |

So stop thinking downloading something (which would make your computer lag more) and using it in your game which would take longer then loading up a simple vaccine script will help! Besides, viruses are kinda rare now anyway. |
