I have a feeling this is going to be the first game I actually finish =D.
Please read this post, and pitch some ideas and thoughts at me. Even though I have plenty to do with this game, and a spin off that might even be better, im looking for great ideas :D.

The Idea:
Well, there never was a really good siege game in Roblox. I find this dissapointing as the greater majority of Roblox went on to favor more modern and futuristic games.
Well I decided to try to create a truly innovative siege game, that includes historic siege weaponary, and famous historic sieges.
The Gameplay:
The game is still in its earliest of early stages, and could be still indevelopment by early 2013. However, the first stage of the game, I hope, will include the Siege of Jerusalem, basic swords, and a new innovative bow and arrrow that has draw time, and realistic drop on the arrow.
The Knight, and the Archer will compose of the classes for now. But the knight will be able to choose from Sword and Shield, or two handed sword.
Three methods for the attacking team to enter the castle, trebuchet to break down the walls, battering ram to break down the gate, and siege towers to get over the wall. The objective for this team is to stop the defending team from destroying the siege equipment, and to capture the flag at the center of the castle.
The defending team must defend the walls of the castle, and may try to torch the enemies siege equipment by using the torch on it for a certain amount of time.
The Innovation:
Melee combat - The game will introduce the idea of BLOCKING.
Yeah I said it.
If you time it right, you can right click with a sword to block an incoming sword. Shields can block arrows as well, and can do block swords.
Teamplay - The game will encourage teamplay by rewarding points to those who play the objective (Ex: Defend the walls, move the siege equipment) and reward bonus points to those who kill enemies near an objective.
The Future:
The Siege of Syracuse and Carthage by the Roman Legion, and the Siege of Helms Deep. Ranks, leaderboards, and other goodies will be experimented upon.

Keep in mind, that this is pretty ambitious and will be a learning proccess for me. Since im working on it alone, it will probably take a while. |

This is a great idea, assuming you can script it. |

make sure to include upgrades in the melee and missile(long-range) weapons
for the bow: sling-shot, short-bow, composite bow, curved bow, long bow, scorpion bow
for the melee weapons: pike, halberd, battle-ax, gladius, long-sword, hand-and- a half sword, broad sword |

All I have to say is you will be working for quite a few hours on those weapon animations. ;P Also, stickmasterluke made something like this and it seemed pretty okay. The funny part is most RPGs are based medieval but there are not any medieval siege games. Nice idea.

Pumped for this game! Good luck in making it! (Also, I think it'd be cool if, whenever damage was done, there would be an indicator above a player's head that would say how much damage was done to them. May be laggy, but Roblox seems to be trying to advance to more complex gameplay, so you never know :p ) |

How would that EVER be laggy? It could easily be put into an event firing function, no loops and no lag.

Yeah as I said before its going to a while, because im cramming this, other video games, school, and sports.

The games lagg has to be handled due to the fact that all the maps will likely be 80-100 percent destructible. This allows Siege Engineers to create multiple breaches for their team. |

Don't leave the destruction to the physics engine: Create your own rabbit-holes! Ex: Certain bricks will simply be shoved into the debris when disintegrated, whereas others will topple and create a giant barrier! |

Ive already sorted out a solution. The lagg isnt unplayable.

Don't make grappling hooks, jetpacks
I love the idea
So like Ages of War.
But better.
Maybe add monsters in the middle on Medieval stage
If you are going to fantasy, make griffins, trolls, goblins
Realistic, Animals.

Im coasting more for realism over fantasy. I want it to really be a game of skill, teamwork, and one that when you look down from a tower, you see ironclad warriors fighting to the death, arrows flying, shields banging, and swords swinging.
Im also experimenting with FPS elements. |
