Hm...I got a dvd on how to play guitar from my library. I have an old acoustic and well, I break strings trying to tune it with an old guitar tuner. Um, am I supposed to untighten the strings when I'm done with it?

Just leave your strings in standard tuning when you've finished playing and you're fine (standard tuning, from smallest to largest string is E,B,G,D,A,E, just so you know).

Good, this is getting the kind of stuff I wanted. If anyone needs help on how to play, or you have some problems with your guitar, I'm sure some of us experienced players can help you and guide you to some good songs for beginners.

I have played guitar for a year or so now, I still have my beginner and I am not that great.I can play Back in Black by ACDC, Boulevard of Broken Dreams by Green Day, the bass line to Longview by Green Day, I can play Smooth by Carlos Santana and Rob Thomas, and I am learning a song by Johnny Cash. As you can see I like many guitarists :)
