Ok guys, I know a lot of you a desperate for ROBLOX mobile to be made available to the iPod touch 4th generation. So in this thread I will try and cover why this may or may not be feasible.
Please note the mods are working on this, and I am also trying to make it work unofficially through a horribly fiddly process of mods.
1. ROBLOX mobile has been designed for the iPod touch 4g, the UI fits perfectly and so do all the dialog boxes, albeit a bit low in resolution. This shows the ROBLOX mobile release has been made with the itouch in mind. Ergo there is hope.
2. Hardware, The hardware on the iPod touch 4g is similar to the iPhone 4. The only real difference is the Random Access Memory (This is what the roblox game stores all the data on whilst being played, it allows the processor to access it at very quick speeds) The iPhone 4 has 512Mb whereas the iPod has only 256Mb. This means the iPod touch can only run games with a smaller brick count and less players and code running in them. One way to overcome this is by setting up virtual RAM. This uses the flash drive as a kind of stand in RAM to give everything a quick boost. But that is a different matter.
3. The devs opinion. So far the devs are working on this but are having difficulty due to the aforementioned hardware limitations. Here is a tweet from sorcus: "So far we have been trying with the iPod touch 4th generation, but are having difficulty getting it to work,"
So there is all the information I have. Keep up with the iTouch4ROBLOX project I am working on for more details.
Happy modding,
Charles.

I appreciate you posting this. It really cleared up all the confusion I had about the 4th generation ipod not having the ability to play games. |

ok thanks for bumping
i agree ipod touch 4 should play games |

I posted a thread similar to this nearly two weeks ago, but didn't bump it again because I knew that you were working on bringing it on to the iPod 4.
__________
Even though the iPhone 4 has 512 Mb of RAM people complain of lag on it, so even if ROBLOX games come on the iPod 4 they will be very laggy and not very enjoyable. :( |

Although iPod 4 can't play online games like ROBLOX or Shadowgun: Deadzone it can still play Modern Combat 3 and 4 online, right?
How is that possible? |
